POST GAME [Round 14, 2026] - Broncos vs Titans

I don't know who the ref was for this game, but I didn't actually hate him (which is more than i can say about most refs) maybe the talk the senior players in the game reportedly had with Vlandys is going to have an effect.

although Madge still had a subtle dig at the ref during his presser. (this one is just as much the fault of the bunker since it was cleared during the captain challenge) ... he said that Piakura was the subject of a hip drop and two high shots in the same tackle and we got nothing

I’m usually appreciative of a more nuanced response but losing to the titans should never come down to luck.

They’re coming second last.
Yeh should be getting the win here. In complete fairness however titans played out of their skin last night, one of there best performances of the year. The loss to dragons last week was more upsetting because we generally got rolled and they were coughing up the ball a lot so we had our fair share of chances to win

Besides the bad call on piakura he did quite well, not too many stupid six again calls or fractional head highs

Are we making teams look good though? Every week the opposition seem to bring their A game against us but we just can’t seem to match it.

Of course they deserve more credit. You're looking at the players who left, not the ones who were brought through and won a premiership.

Yes there are concerns in the future but things have yet to play out. You're upset about only re-signing Phillip Coates for a year yet the club locked up Antonio Verhoeven long term. For all we know, Brisbane keep both and they help form an amazing backline. Or maybe Coates leaves, Verhoeven ends up on the sidelines and it goes pear shape. We don't know but the club hasn't thrown in the towel either.

The Dolphins are doing fine but with more success comes more attention. They'll have a tough time keeping the side together and the game can turn quickly. Even Penrith looked hopeless this time last year before things clicked for them and now it's deja vu.

So why haven't we been able to develop / find another half decent second rower?

And look, if you are happy with the job our R&R team are doing, that's fine, I'm just giving my opinion. I think its been an issue for years but as you say, we won a premiership last year, so I get you not having the same view and that's fine.

This is exactly it, even the Warriors have a side in NSW cup they are basically around the top side all the time, basically semi pro but a good chunk of them the club would sort jobs or study or what ever, I think all the QLD really miss a trick by not having the "broncos qld " side, to play week in and week out in the style the top side wants to and more important when they do come in they are familiar with each other. Like Penrith beating the Warriors last week, resting 4 players but everyone that came in knew their exact job and did it.

I am not saying that it hasn't worked for Penrith clearly it has but people pretend that the Broncos didn't win the comp last year with this feeder system that doesn't work and that the Storm haven't had a fair chunk of success from 98-25 with a broken system.

Whenever a team has success, everyone wants to copy them, but their way doesn't mean it's the only way.

Dolphins have the same system as Penrith and haven't made finals once.

My point is that you have to take the good with the bad, that's all. You're only framing the negative so to describe the players who came in and helped deliver the premiership as 'not much' is incredibly harsh.

Since Piakura and Riki? That's a question for the entire NRL. We've seen with the likes of Nanai and Halasima that if you have a gun junior second row they're virtually straight into the NRL. Otherwise you're waiting for five-eighths/centres/wingers to make that transition. Otherwise it's an area the Broncos have to improve on.

We barely had to use our reserve players last year. This year is showing exactly why we need our players playing week in week out on the same team. There’s literally no argument against it.

No argument except for the two you ignored.

I think teams always show up against the broncos it's been happening for years. But we were off the pace in yardage in pretty much all of these games during this losing streak except last night. I generally thought last night titans had a blinder in defence and we probably should have won and were the better team

One thing that bugged me was when Duffy went off for a HIA he brought Ezra straight on... so it was basically always going to happen that Duffy would be subbed for Ezra at some point.

Last week when Ezra went off, Madge brought Bhunt on despite having Duffy there... the same should've happened last night just to check if Duffy would pass his HIA or not.

We had already used our 17 players 10mins before half-time and what happens Piaks and Gos have to struggle through injuries to stay out there or Willison gets moved away from the middle to cover them.

Willison was dominating the middle last night and we keep going into games happy to lose that advantage... it's really starting to piss me off.

Going into a game with a planned substitution of your five eight is stupid... what was the point of dropping Ezra if you were never intending to follow through with it.

Going into a game basically committing to lose one of your best middles to cover the fragile edges is maddening at this point... I'd imagine it was always planned that Willison would end up on an edge pending which one of Gos or Piaks got gassed first.

There was basically no point picking Tawha if there was never an intent to use him.

There weren’t two arguments against it in your statement. Just terrible opinions from a Storm fan who have plenty of success due to other* reasons
