Round 14 Discussion

There's two of them? Poor Newcastle.

They should have played Gagai at fullback

Gagai scores!! Porthoz master coach..

Newcastle are shit. Bennett sure has his work cut out trying to get them into the finals in the coming years.

That was one boring game.

Hope Bennett has a water tight contract. (one good thing for him, is Tinkler is moving to Singapore)

Yep. Tonight was proof that the Storm have absolutely nothing without their big 3.

take the best 3 players out of any team and theyll have nothing, especially when those 3 are the 3 most important positions in a team lol. what a stupid thing to say.

If Newcastle fail to make the finals there will be big questions asked of the players. Bennett won't be made a scapegoat the media love him.

So basically, the Storm team is extremely average and the fact that Smith, Slater and Cronk are SO good is what holds that team together like NO OTHER.

You say that after they lost by 4 points to a team that had won 6 in a row, a team that was only missing a single player to origin, a team who has a golden boot winner, a team that was short priced favorites to win the competition this year, and they actually came very close to snatching a win.

You ask how many storm players would make the broncos/manly/etc team? Well if they wanted to be on top of the ladder after 14 weeks, 17 of them would make the broncos/manly/etc team. 3 players don't win you the 11 from the first 13 games.

You can't honestly believe that many teams would knock off a near full strength top 4 side without their 3 best players who also are the 3 most important positions in a team, can you?

Take Thaiday (or hannant more like it at this stage of the season), hodges and Wallace out and the broncos would struggle to beat a top 8 team.
Take marshall, Farrah and anyone out of the tigers and they lose. Hell, just take Marshall out and they lose lol.
Gallen, carney, Gardner.
Kidley, Mullen, Boyd.
Soward, cooper, hornby.
Hayne, anyone, anyone.
Cherry Evans, watmough, Stewart.
Inglis, Taylor, Luke

None of those are even 1-7-9 like Melbourne, and they are the most important positions in a footy team.

If you seriously think that any team wouldn't struggle without their top 3, your origin-period idiocy has progressed much further than anyone could've imagined.

Don't forget Storm were missing Proctor & Chambers either & Manu was a late entry.

That Chambers loss was big too as it meant Blair had to cover for him with Widdop shifting to five eigth and Duffie moving to fullback.

Storm didn't need all 3 to win, just 1 would have sufficed.

It's going to be hilarious if the Warriors lose tonight.

You got to hand it to Cleary. He's doing a good job with one of the worst rosters in the competition.

16-12 with 36 gone.

Agreed. He is proving to be a bloody good coach

How dissapointing, I thought the Warriors were a little bit better than this.. Oh well.

Amazing how big a game changer that interpect could be. Mansour misses it and Tupou walks in for another try and since then Panthers have killed it.

I agree with this. He's had one of the worst first grade rosters I've ever seen, so many injuries and just some crap players.

Yep, and he's not just doing this was some injured players, but without Lewis and Grant and Jennings tonight.
