PRE-GAME [Round 17, 2026] - Broncos vs Roosters

Petero didn't want to leave, we screwed him over, not the other way round. Haas shouldn't be captain.

That’s clutching at straws. Petero still could have taken a lower amount to stay. You know, show loyalty by taking less like what people on here expect of every other player including Haas. Petero still had an offer to stay at the club, they just didn’t meet his salary demands even after Bennett promised him his pay day but he still could have stayed for around what he was already making.

Both players were leaving the club for another club and both made captain after it was announced they were.

It’s game day boys!

Let’s get that fcukin W & celebrate, something we’ve forgotten for the past 6 weeks.

I think we are no chance TBH.
Season is gone after dropping games to the Dragons and Tits.
They're still having a go, mostly, but the confidence is shot.
I wouldn't change a thing re MM but looking forward to 27 and beyond his recruitment is worrying.
Is he trying to do a Bellamy?
Buying fringe first graders and squeezing a couple of decent seasons from them.?
Nearly 2 seasons and no back row depth is confusing. Everyone can see this except our club it seems.

Petero had been underpaid for years that was his loyalty there and deserved to be the highest paid Bronco forward like he was promised. Petero deserved 400k and when they say no to Petero but then pay Sims and Clinton more that should anger everyone. His contract with Penrith was less than the 400k promised at the Broncos.

Really Petero wasn't loyal? That guy that went back and played a season for Redcliffe for nothing to repay them for his career, the former international that rode to training on his bike- what an arrogant rock star he is!

I didn't say I don't think Petero was loyal. That was a reference to the popular narrative amongst fans on social media, and some members on here, that players should be loyal and take less to stay here instead of chasing the payday. That's what so many people expected of Haas..

But you are the one clutching at straws. Petero stayed for years on unders and then finally left when the club shafted him. He also never pushed for more money every second week like Haas.

Haas only signed unders because he was originally being paid overs. Once that changed, he started agitating and basically never stopped despite the club constantly upping his pay in good faith. Despite being the best paid prop in the game, he still then left. We have never promised Haas anything only for us to then not deliver. Completely different circumstances.

It’s crazy you can’t see the difference here.

We know Payne's salary from his court documents when he was suing Orr.

2017- $85,000
2018-$110,000
2019- $250,000
2020-$448,000
2021-$548,000
2022-$748,000
2023- $798,000
2024-$848,000

Take away 23 and 24 because he got an upgrade and signed for 25 and 26. After that upgrade the 23, 24, 25 and 26 would be over a million. But Broncos got him cheaply for a long while and he was never on overs.

That six-year deal in 2018 was outstanding value.

Oh wow its game day (Socceroos had me distracted).

I dunno - we suck atm and the Roosters might be a top 4 team this year. Need a walsh miracle I reckon.

Although I like the positivity here 😌

I fear for our ball security on a wet rainy night.

It’s already been awful in dry conditions
