POST GAME [Round 17, 2026] - Broncos vs Roosters

There's three clubs that have had more players/games lost due to injury then the Broncos. Storm, Rabbitohs and Eels. Warriors are only one game behind.

It's not an excuse anymore.

Yes and no. What's the detail behind those stats, is it top 30 or top 17/19 or starting 13?

Long-term injuries like BWalters lead to a high missed game count over the season but without all that much impact on the team. For example, I'd rather have 2x players out for the entire season rather than 10 players out for 5 weeks each during the season - leads to far more chopping and changing, guys coming and going, not staying match fit through the year etc.

Similarly, injuries to fringe/depth/backup top 30 players who wouldn't be getting a jersey regularly, has little to no impact on the main team (assuming they can stay fit themselves). A Walsh going down is far more impactful than a Perham.

I would bet my left nut that we have, by far, the most injury-affected top 18 regular team out of the comp and by some margin. Just going off "games missed" only tells part of the story.

A large number of our depth guys are being asked to play huge chunks of the season and they are just not up to that level - they are depth, not top 13/19 every week. Add to that I don't know if we have run out the same starting 13 in two consecutive weeks all year? The chopping and changing makes it incredibly difficult to build any consistency or momentum.

It is most certainly an excuse. But we also should have done a lot better in a lot of games this year; lastnight isn't really one of them tbf, think we played pretty much to our capacity as a team with those players, and it probably shouldn't even have been as close as it was.

there is one other effect that mass injuries can have on a team.

Sometimes you have no viable alternative but to stick with under performing players. either because the depth in that position is already min the team or because the only player left would be worse than what you've got

Cue Vonny "EvERy TeAM hAS InJuRIeS"...

I also believe the unreasonable flogging we got from the refs in a couple of games there impacted on the teams psyche as well. Having to play almost with one hand tied behind their back compared to their opposition can't not be frustrating and I believe some performances have reflected this frustration.

All of this coupled with the shorter preseason and trip to the UK and it's all just conspired to be a total cluster**** of a season. We're no chance of the 8 unfortunately.

Hopefully it's the excuse the club needs to make some big changes in personnel which is sorely needed - but as a fan we aren't seeing a ****ing thing in this regard which is absolutely infuriating. We're the biggest club in the game FFS, we HAVE to do better with R&R. There's been some mile-wide gaps in our roster for years now and precious little seems to be being done to address them.

Well excuse me for creating boundaries. My rules are firm, I no longer engage with anyone on Twitter with less than 50 followers and I don’t attempt to have an intelligent conversation with people on here who don’t know how to use a full stop.

I’m also not willing to compare a few minutes with no forwards at the beginning of his career VS many years of proof of being terrible. Doesn’t seem fair

LOL .

Yep need to get rid of the deadwood , every club has injuries. But are they 5/6 of the starting 17 ? Every ****ing week …

Looks like the Rooster jersey won at the MRC over the Maroons jersey.

Walker and Collins will receive fines

Toia was cleared altogether

Unless it’s Darius Boyd. You are literally the only person on the forum who thought he was playing just fine up until retirement. The only one.. unless someone else wants to back you up? Any takers?

How are these things even remotely similar?

Boyd was average at the end of his career but was getting entirely blamed for our losses which I didn’t agree with. I never thought he was “just fine”. I argued that we had issues other than a fullback. A McDonald’s obsessed five-eight stealing a few million from the club, for example.

I also shouldn’t engage with racist, sexist edge lords but here I am. We all make mistakes I guess.

Revisionist history. You thought Darius was playing fine all the way up to retirement. You defended him nonstop.

That’s revisionist history. ****, there I go again, replying to a racist, sexist edge lord.

Oh my gosh. That was a terrible 14 pages to catch up on because of the ridiculous nah you're wrong, nah you're wrong.

@Cult, @tommy and @Big Del:

Just let it go or take it to DMs. I suspect there is not a single other person on this forum who has enjoyed reading this back and forth. Just stop it and move on or move it to private.

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS POST, leave it alone and move on.
