People do have short memories. Cleary only got back to the club in '19. The Panthers missed the eight that year but made the '20 GF and then won the next two. Tell me how we're five years behind them?
We have moved on almost our entire playing group in the last two-three years. The panthers, particularly 3/4 of their spine (Edwards, Cleary and Luai) have played together for years. They have had the same nebular of players (Edwards, Cleary, Luai, Chricton, To'o, JFH, Leota, Martin, Leniu, Kenny) Our spine is actually only in its first year and all the areas people are calling out about our attack are because we still don't have an established spine like the panthers did in 20, 21 and 22.

When we played them in 2020 our spine - Boyd, O'sullivan, Dearden and Luke.
Their spine - Edwards. Luai, Cleary and Koroisau

You aren't comparing apples with apples. These guys came up through the grades together and have played together for a long long time.

Yeo has also been solid and strong for 8 or 9 years now.

I mean…I can see the reason for the complaints. We don’t have the most wins in the comp and haven’t won with most of our best players out at all this year on a difficult international away trip against a team off a bye with top 4 aspirations and No origin reps themselves.

I mean imagine if we’d actually also already beaten the Panthers. And it’s laughable to imagine the pinnacle which is the Panthers losing to the worst team in the comp.

Haha man, good things none of these have happened, can you imagine?

That's the issue. They shouldn't go missing. You've got teams like the Panthers, who had six players out, including their two playmakers, still play cohesive and error free football. That's with fucking Cogger and Salmon in the halves.

You can say well they're the two time premiers but when you lose 6 of your starting 13 you could be forgiven for playing shit. Hell, we played better against the Warriors then we have the past 3 weeks.
You’re comparing a system that has made 3 straight grand finals to a team who hasn’t made finals at all in the same period. Can’t expect such a key player to be missing and everyone hits their straps, especially when you have another couple key players missing around them. We aren’t going to navigate every part of the season to perfection when we as a side haven’t got the closest fucken clue how to deal with the week to week to perfection. It’s excusable that in a period hampered by origin with 4 rep players out another one playing in a position he does nothing in just so we get by that we win a derby game against a team who has done some admirable things with the players they had yesterday. It was a week full of drama, distractions and change and we came away with a win. Need I say what happened last weekend? It could have all gone to shit and we put in a performance where a win was the deserved outcome. Sometimes you need to put context next to a performance and celebrate the outcome.

Hi folks, did anyone notice in the presser Reynolds’s body language throughout looked like he was not happy, usually after the win he always seems to be smiling and looking happier. I wonder if something is going on behind the scenes with his contract extension he is asking for??

I reckon you're probably reading too much into it. He was probably not happy with the performance of the team, and his.

Walsh out - ***** our defence and also completely ***** our attack all over the park.
Riki and Capewell out - completely changes everything about the edge defence and also attack around the edges.
Fleger out - Mongrel in the middle and good go forward.

People wonder why we were clunky. We battled through the game, lost the lead and still found a way to claw ourselves back into it, despite being without 3x rep players and Riki who is the best kick chaser in the comp and will without a doubt be a mainstay in the Kiwi side from whenever the next test is for as long as he wants.

We could win the premiership and have Billy Walters single handedly score the winning try and some fuckers here would still find something to whinge about.

Dead set.

Reynolds is clearly the problem. I don't know why, but I struggle to put it down to "attitude" and it's certainly not lack of footy smarts or talent.
Are you trying to say.....ARey just isn't that good?

Does Herbie just not like Corey? Every try celebration he legit doesn’t acknowledge Corey exists, it’s so weird

Notice it every time.

People say that there's too much being read into it with the whole Herbie rarely passing to him, but it's getting harder to deny when you see things like this

I know these are old but I don't think so. If anything I have noticed that Herbie's celebrations are more chill, and he just likes to get on with it.

Maybe they prefer to put their love in writing. So sweet.

All that granted, I think a lot of us are looking towards the finals and thinking we can't expect to arse it through the way we've been playing recently. There's some growing concern about Adam Reynolds not being the captain/playmaker we know he can be. The formula is pretty simple: when Reynolds is on fire, the Broncos are on fire. He hasn't been on fire.

you're comparing the back-to-back premiers with a team that has missed the finals the last 3 years.

do you think the Panthers got where they are overnight?

the answer is absolutely not. it took them time to build. we're in the process of it now, we're not the finished product like the Panthers are.

At the same point of where we are at now, Panthers were on top of the ladder with a PD of 237.

That was the year after they finished 10th.

Plain and simply, we aren’t the Panthers so who cares. The Broncos way is to struggle and win dirty during origin affected rounds and then come home with a wet sail. You need to peak at the right time and that isn’t yet.
