POST GAME Round 18 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Yep. I'm one who thought he went reasonably well and I'm calling it as I see it. He hasn't had a 'bad' game yet. He's either been between excellent and average . Your god quip is shit.

Haha! How is the ‘God’ quip shit? It was in reference to the thread that was started - “Turpin is God.” And if you think his game wasn’t ‘bad’ against the Eels - you din’t look at players’ performances objectively.

Macca is just lucky we have injuries in the halves. If he sucks at his specialist position then he would be twice as bad in the halves. Turpin can play anywhere, if everyone is fit there is no spot for McBollocks, or probably benchy at best. Turpin and Seggy are both light years ahead of him.

When we get healthy again McCullough will be the 9 and Turpin will be on the bench. I’m not a big mcc fan but I think people on here are just so desperate to see the back of him they’re grossly over valuing Turpin.

Maybe in the short term. He's being phased out and rightly so. If we have no injuries in the halves there's a good chance the process is already done.

Turpin can’t even keep McCullough out of the 9 jersey, they Turpin fandom on this board is fucking over the top

Our best performances from a number 9 this year have been when Turps played there, closely followed by some of Seggys cameos...

Macca "should" have been made to earn his spot back but once fit came straight back in....you cannot in all conscious put that on Turps....literally nothing else he could have done to hold onto that spot but made no difference once Macca was back..

Look at the difference in results once that change was made...

Case closed...move along...

I mean we havent lost in 3 weeks and macca has been the 9 in all of them.

I'm not advocating for McC but I think everyone just needs to chill on the turps a little.

I I think Turps is an awesome player but he’s young and often out of position. Mistakes are inevitable.

I think people are confusing the reason why we are such a big fan of Turps. It’s not because he’s flawless, it’s because many times this season and especially during the lower periods, he was one of the only players out there who looked like he wanted to win. He has a great attitude on the field. He’s intense in everything he does. It’s great to watch.

Turps is a fukin warrior and he is more talented than Macca. I honestly don't even understood how anybody can compare these two players....including Seibold.

The heart and passion Turps shows in his footy far outweighs the odd mistake he is currently making.

The last tackle against the Bulldogs sums up what I love about Turpin. The siren is about to go and he was still racing in to put on the hit and shoved the blokes head into the ground for good measure. Once the siren sounded he was shaking the guy's hand, just a real competitor 'till the end.

I don’t get how people are being so critical of Turpin’s performance against the Dogs, but for those that are, a few things to consider:

- he hasn’t even played 15 NRL games, so is still very much a rookie;
- further to the above, he’s playing out of position, but not only that, in a very demanding and critical position (it’s not like he is an edge backrower being asked to play centre or lock);
- he doesn’t have a recognised 6 beside him;
- he also has a bloke playing 1 who, as good as he can be there, hasn’t played there in a long time so is still rusty himself.

Honestly, what do people expect from him? You can’t simply manufacture a 7 in a few weeks. The best example I can think of is Cronk, and it took years for him to hone his skills.

With the above in mind, I personally think he’s exceeded expectations and has been the breath of fresh air, with respect to his tenacity and winners attitude at least, this team desperately needed.

I also concede he isn’t a halfback, but boy, not for a lack of giving it his absolute all.

Just imagine how good they could be if some of the more talented players across the NRL had his determination!
