I hope this Hasler circus is still going on when we play this weekend. Giving him the boot with a potential caretaker in place fighting for the job next year could give them something extra to play for.
Do it for Des grand tour starts this week

Everyone relax.... if it was a really bad injury thats needs a lot of game management do we seriously think he'd be wearing the heat pack on the outside of his t shirt for world to see? Lol

I may be in the minority but I actually think haas should play.
4 day turnaround followed by a Bye. What I think should happen though is that madge does a last minute swap to the bench. Bring him on only if we need him. What will happen if we don't use him? Who do we have to come in that it is so imperative tjat we have them there?

I think the concern is (at least for me) that if he's got a bulging disc, and that gives way - gooooodbye. Lumbar laminectomy surgeries are cooked, and aren't always super successful

this is a shambles... clubs need the right to veto players from SOO based on injury etc. As much as I support SOO - clubs should have the final say on availability as they are more aligned with the players long term welfare. States are just focused on the next game only and damn the ramifications if they are gone for 3 months afterwards.

I think not having anyone to come in could mean we play him.

If Jensen was available I could see us resting him... a middle rotation that has Willison, Patty and Jensen has enough big men... but a middle that only has Patty and Willison is susceptible, especially against a titans pack with Tino, Mo Fo, RCG, Joliffe, etc.

The complete lack of any middles to come in is an issue as well.. not even just big men. I don't actually think BTK is ready... syndesmosis is like an 8 week injury and he did it like 5 weeks ago against the titans... I thought he went in for surgery after it as well... which means it would be Jhunt or Talty coming in.

That's not even first grade standard... the depth across the squad is horrible.

It's a heat pack not a 'brace' btw, but if you need heat on your lower back you are f**ked

He's fine. Some heat, some rest, an injection, he'll be fine.

It's something he's going to be managing for the rest of the season. Some weeks he might aggravate it a bit and won't produce monster games, but he'll still be able to play.

Agreed. The last few years I've thought we needed another experienced middle or 2. We've just been extremely lucky with inuuries in the middle I think.

I haven't read its a bulging disc anywhere. There's lots of research on bulging discs and pain. A lot of people are walking around with bulging discs without pain, and some have excruciating pain with far less. It's not fully understood. I personally wouldn't go near any vertabral or disc surgery (eg discectomy, fusion) unless absolutely, and I mean absolutely, every other avenue was exhausted. A lot go wrong, the knock on effects being felt somewhere else, or just not being effective at all.

The reports are that it's a bulging disc that's troubling him. Unconfirmed anywhere though.

I agree, though a bulging disc is more likely to herniate. My partner had a complete rupture picking up a dumbbell at the gym (with perfect form, mind you!) - disc completely out and compressing the cauda equina. He had to get a lumbar laminectomy, unfortunately. Complete chaos, but effective for him to a degree.

J'maine Hopgood had to get a microdiscectomy last year, he had a bulging disc that was aggravated in Origin 1 (irony!). Just don't want Haas to be cooked in an Origin fixture. Maybe I just get triggered when hearing about discs/ lower back complaints due to the above but that's my problem lol

I’m not so jaded that I can’t still get keen for an origin match. These days it just takes me until 30 seconds before kick off to care
The build up and kick off time is so bad now though.

I had to turn it off when they started flogging Stan ads, and then went to more ads... I'm assuming they just went full blown Cleary after that, but they're probably just about to come out now.
