POST GAME [Round 2, 2024] Broncos vs Rabbitohs

Like 1-17, our bench rotation is NOT GOOD. Simply put, Patty SHOULD NOT be playing longer minutes & get burned every game.

If Kev had to pick one aspect of improvements from his part from last year, it must surely be that Patty & Payne must be used wisely. It’s appalling that that the coaching staff haven’t identified targets to recruit. Added to it, our bench players are no good.

Unless we fill our remaining 2 spots of top 30 with capable recruits OR if a couple of blokes in Kobe/Willison/Baker/Hunt/someone picks form immensely, we would be in trouble.
I think it was due to Haas being off longer due to his niggle.

Why the hell don't we just roll the middle with Haas and Patty and CJ getting good, fast PTBs. That should be tackle 3 and 4 on kick returns. Fast PTBs are the key these days.
Its maddening. That is literally the gameplan right there.

Roll through the middle, get to a kick and grind. Leave the headless chook stuff to the shit teams.

Unpopular opinion and I'm actually a big fan of his (think he's got origin written all over him), but I think hethrington should be the man to go.
He doesn't win 1st contact in attack and often gets pushed back, he's too small. Jensen is the same but at least he's strong enough to win the play the ball battle I the end. We can't carry 2 smaller bodies. We lose all momentum. Tapau is good for 30 minutes and baker showed tonight why we bought him, but willison over Hetherington would help us keep the momentum haas and carrigan build.

Made harder work of it that in needed to be. Our razzle dazzle football will win us plenty of games against weaker sides, i'm not sure it will against better ones. Add some composure to our play, and we are head and shoulders the best side in the comp.

Walsh and Cobbo impressive. Carrigan immense, just a machine. Shame for Arey, he was starting to take control of that game
Like what i'm seeing from Mariner. He's keeping thing simple, been impressive.
Piakura looked good also. Still a work in progress but warming into his role. Can hit!

He was running well, but until the last 10min, he seemed to have lost his pass (a lot of plays kept dying). I think teams have also figured out our sweeping plays a bit (which usually starts of him).

I noticed that tbh, but i thought it was more him just taking the tackles to calm things down a bit.

Mariner just gave Alex Johnstone a bath on the wing. Johnstone is now slouch with speed but Mariner just made him look pedestrian.

If we play like that against the Riff they will put a cricket score on us. Baker is steady and may improve but it looks like we need a bit of extra grunt in the middle and Willison needs to come in on the bench for big Marty or Baker.

Our defence on the edges is great but gee we are soft up the middle. Both Walters and Smoothy gave poor service from dummy half tonight, hopefully it was just early season rust.

Cobbo looked better the more the game went on.

Also did anyone see ezra mam tonight in attack? I can't even remember seeing him with the ball

he was pretty invisible, he had some good hits in defence and that kick chase in broken play but not much outside that.

Do you really think they would have let Reyno play for another 5 minutes if they even suspected he had done his ACL?

Frustrating game, got a lot to improve on to get back to last year's levels. Probably the best game in Cobbo's young career so far, he was awesome. PC and Haas were great.

Not convinced about our hooker rotation at the moment, just too many terrible passes out of dummy half. Need Walters to get back to where he was at the backend of last season

Maybe. I just get the feeling that he's not 100. Just seems flatter to me. I will watch it again and maybe eat my words.
222 running meters for a middle is Top dog though, no disputing it, topped meters for both teams.
