Where's that "caught bombs" stat coming from? Is there a "number of bomb catches attempted"? stat? what about a "fell over with the try line wide open" stat? "ran back in off his wing instead of trying to go down the line"?

Anyone who watched Maranta, Reed and Vidot play last year knows that Vidot was the best out of them by a country mile. You're trying too hard to justify Bennetts mind boggling decisions.

I'm justifying Maranta and Reed being in the team, not Bennetts selections. You use the "anyone who watched" excuse, which is where I got the "caught bombs" stat. Because I watched the games. Anyone want to find that video where Vidot drops the ball over the try line with nobody in front of him? You're acting like Vidot is the best winger in the competition and it's ridiculous.

Anybody want to find a video of any of the number of times Maranta either dropped the ball cold over the line, with the line wide open, or just flat out fell over his own feet with the line wide open? Or any of the times Reed has completely ruined scoring opportunities by hogging the ball.

I'm not saying Vidot is the best winger in the competition! He's the best at the Broncos though, by far.

So the negatives only count when they're for Maranta or Reed? Corey Oates is probably the best winger at the Broncos. Probably followed by Kahu and if we add Boyd in there too just to make you more wrong.

I want Vidot in the team and think Wayne should have selected him but you're wrong when you say he deserves the spot a lot more than Reed and Maranta.

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but thought this was interesting

Broncos assistant coach Kevin Waters admitted on radio after their opening-round loss that the idea to play Parker at dummy-half was a mistake and to not expect that tactic to surface again.

Corey Oates isn't even a winger, hes a backrower who they're now trying to turn into a winger.

Kahu I just don't get the love. Sure I didn't watch him play in reserve grade or as a schoolboy, but hes had 15 or so first grade matches and is yet to really show anything other than average IMO. Slower than a wet week though, even compared to Vidot. Boyd isn't a winger apparently. If he was, sure, he'd be the best one we have.

How doesn't he deserve the spot more than Reed and Maranta?

But I've been told that it was due to injury during the game? lol.

So.. we all agree that Maranta & Vidot are both quite awful finishers, the only major difference between them is that Vidot makes more hit-ups and metres out of our end of the field, and Maranta is one of the safest wingers in the competition under the high ball.

Taking into consideration that whichever of the two is chosen is going to be played outside of Justin Hodges, one of the best metre eaters from dummy half in the world coming out of trouble, and who hasn't caught a bomb since he was 23.. wouldn't it make more sense to play Maranta to sort of counter-act Hodges weaknesses, and balance the team out a bit more?

It'd be great having 2 guys who can make 10 metres a run out of our own end on the right side of the field, but if the trade off is 2 tries scored down that side of the field and 3 bombs dropped a game.. I'm more than happy with Maranta over Vidot at this stage.

Did I mention that Maranta is 4 years younger than Vidot? Just thought I'd throw that in there for the "Vidot>Maranta" crowd.

Please move on from this argument.

I still don't really understand the "drop Vidot because he needs to work on some things" reasoning. If you were to drop players because they need major things to work on, we'd be playing without any wingers. I'd almost kinda understand dropping him because they think he has the most potential and pushing him, but I really don't think Bennett thinks that. What he's done is basically drop our best available winger, and is playing much worse ones instead.

From all reports vidots application in the pre season was poor, I would imagine bennett is making him earn his spot back

No, no. Obviously what we want is to defend back to back sets in our own twenty numerous times a game. That is definitely what we want, right?

I personally think that's exactly what he's doing. Bennett was even quoted saying he's a talented player who'll be back in first grade soon, he also told him to lose weight, so clearly he does rate him and wants him to get to his best.

I think Vidot will be in first grade within a month or two.

I also heard on the pre season torture camp he let his group down on a couple of occasions and cost them Tim Tams. Don't laugh, it's true!

Why the hell would anyone want Maranta as a long term winger? He's a stop gap that I hope we move on from.

Maranta & Vidot are both stop-gap options. We aren't winning a premiership with wingers who can't finish tries, no matter how many hit-ups they take or bombs they catch.

Source? From what I've read he worked his arse off, quite literally, and dropped 5kg+. That much is a fact, straight from vidot himself. Not sure where these supposed reports of a poor offseason are coming from, other than agendas. But please, provide some sort of source and ill gladly read it.

This notion that Bennett dropped him because he has the most potential is laughable and a pathetic attempt to justify it. If that was how it was done then we should drop Milford and hunt quicksmart! Imagine how great theyd be then! Hell, Lockyer probably couldve been even better had we just dropped him a few times a season!

Haven't seen anyone with an agenda about Vidot. Some people criticise his poor handling and finishing ability which is a fair criticism when you look at last season. A winger that can't finish well is a bit of a liability in attack.

The agenda in talking about isn't one to do with vidot.

Vidot is less of a liability in attack than maranta and reed.

surely there is a vidot thread somewhere.

Maranta yes, Reed is a better finisher than Vidot, as proven by him scoring more tries last season.
