POST GAME [Round 20, 2026] - Broncos vs Panthers

Well yeah. Has any other side won the comp in the last 5 years than these two? Have the Broncs had this version of the side available most of the year and I missed it?
What does previous years have to do with this year? You can't be called the best or 2nd best team in the comp from 14th on the ladder with a month and a half left because you had a good win. Every single team has injuries.

I desperately need to know when was the last time ASADA rocked up at the Pennies players doors at 3am, I bet it hasn't been recently.

One win and suddenly being the best team in the comp again is a bit too much dip on the chip for mine.

Can enjoy the win without going overboard on where we are actually at.

I don't want to be that club that lets players or the team get away with coasting all season just because they put up a highlights reel performance in one game.

But even with that, how could you not have enjoyed it? It was a great game, I just cannot fathom how anyone couldn't think that. This was the two best sides in the comp by far almost at their best with a ref that mostly stayed out of it. What is there not to like?

See how you've completely changed what I wrote? I never mentioned the word enjoyed I said not a great game everything other than that you just made up.

You're free to think it was a great game. I am not trying to change your mind.

From dooming and glooming us all week, saying there was no chance to beat Penrith, to equal best team in the league. That's a hell of a turn

Don't forget lists that articulate why they're the worst club in world sport and the 4578 things that U13 Siberian handball does better than them.

But don't say that game wasn't great.

In fairness, it's the defending premiers taking on the form team of the competition. Maybe there was a better way of articulating it but it's still two high calibre teams which was the point.

First game back after the silly season, they set a nice bar.

Are you suggesting, good sir, that the season doesn't really begin until Round 20?

The form team of the competition has now lost 3 of their last 4. Tapering or chink in the armour? We will see.

I would say high calibre team and a high calibre performance

I wish.

What I'm saying is that there's a two month period called the Origin period that throws the entire competition into disarray. It leads to a lot of low quality football and you can't take a lot of form to heart.

Although in the case of the Broncos, they've effectively played themselves out of the 2026 competition.

Gotta have a super duper high rugby league IQ to not enjoy a game like that, us plebs just wouldn't understand 😀

Form team by virtue of leading the competition.

It's good watching teams step up to Penrith. The best games this season have followed that theme (vs. Raiders, vs. Warriors etc.).

Fully aware of the point, it's just hard to take seriously after the weeks of doom and gloom is all. For me anyways.

If another teams fans were suggesting they were the best team in the league in 13th/14th after 1 win in 2 months, we'd mock the shit out of them.

You are a crack up mate.

You listed a stat that there was 20 errors. I listed a stat of completion rates with the context of the weather.

I am as down on the Broncs as anyone obviously, look at my posts, if I can appreciate how good that game was, anyone can.

Also, explain to me how it wasn't a great game other than 20 errors, most of which were contested bombs in the wet. I'm happy to listen. I haven't changed anything you wrote, I've simply called you out on something which you haven't actually argued other than talk around the point. Some nice gymnastics by you.

As for the other argument @JayPee, you are right that last year doesn't have much to do with this year and I have articulated it very poorly as @Big Pete said, I'll own that one but the point stands, no one matches us or Penrith when we are both at full strength.

My issue that I have argued at length is that we have no depth under the top team, I don't understand how a team with our resources can allow that to happen. Our best team is obviously very good, what lies under the best team is not so great and looks worrying moving into 2027. Losing Haas is also absolutely massive.

I also think you're jumping at shadows here Sproj. The game last night was not an exhibition of free-flowing Rugby League.

It was a wet, tough defence oriented game which is what 1910 was getting at.

It was ugly to watch at times but you couldn't fault the effort from either team.

Nobody will say it but they haven't looked as good ever since they relaxed on the 6 again's. No surprise storm also started to look better when they could slow the ruck down again.

Right now the officiating is probably more in line with last year.

They are still definitely favourites though. But not as unbeatable as they were earlier in the year when it was borderline touch football.
