POST GAME Round 20 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

My wife noticed how ineffective Sam's runs have become. 3m hit ups with no quick play the ball
Was going to say something but didn't want to sound like a broken record, I've been giving it to poor Sam a bit lately. Was gonna say Sproj better not give him any more than a 4. I hope he gives it his all the rest of this year and calls it quits. He is after all a club legend. Would be pretty sad to see him fall much further.

Our slow starts are really a concern for me, its taking 20-30 minutes for us to get into games. We are conceding soft points early and then playing catch up, fortunately against weaker opposition we have been able to do it but it will kill us against the tops sides if we keep it up.

It seems to coincide with our starting props. Once they are off and tpj comes on with offa, the intensity improves dramatically

So to annoy my wife we watched the first half on channel 9. Needless to say the wife was unimpressed with Ray hadley calling the game like a horse race.

At least racehorse callers know what they are talking about. Hadlee is an idiot that doesn't even know the rules.

Fualalo is the only player charged from last nights game.

he was charged with a grade 1 lifting tackle on Blair in the first minute.

this tackle was incredibly stupid from him IMO, because they had started to put blair back down correctly, before Fualalo decided to start his lifting action again

How does he only get a grade 1 for that it was horrendously bad.

Tackle was all but over and he uses the leg to lift and then drive... it wasn't one of those soft dangerous tackle it was legitimately bad and was lucky not to end badly.

Yet Blair is ultimately sent off and the team they play in the following weeks get the advantage via suspension...

You've given me a great idea the (gutless) NRL can implement next year - teams are docked points equivalent to the highest grade charge if successful i.e Grade One = 1 point off ladder points; Grade Two = 2 points off.

Applies only to the highest grade (if a team has multiple players charged) regardless whether team won, lost or drew!

The MRC won't give someone a Grade 2 unless there is an injury.

It's a ridiculous policy, in fact a fucking moronic policy, but that's the way it is with them. Someone will have to die in order for them to take these tackles more seriously.

I'm surprised more wasn't made of Blair refusing to go to the rooms when he was sent. He went and stood on the sidelines and then the match official went to the bench and told them to get him off the ground. They sent someone down and he still stood there before eventually going.

What was the official reason Blair was binned for? Well, the official reason is "evening up", I guess, but that was nothing.

Hands on the ball? That seems the infringement made up specifically for evening up purposes.

The sin-bin was for a professional foul. Blair was off-side when he knocked the ball out and since it was off a quick-tap the referee had no other choice.

The calls leading up to that were harsh on the Broncos, but the actual call on Blair was correct.

"Professional foul" for knocking the ball away

Edit: sorry for being repetitive! Others replied while I was in the middle of...

which was actually a brain snap from Blair since i don't think Reynolds was allowed to take a quick tap from there
