We're definitely traveling better than last season. We weren't humiliated last night, merely pipped. We look like a top 8 team, but that's about it.

This isn't likely to be our year, but that's not the major concern: it's that we're not building to succession next season. Our weakness - as ever - is Reynolds' fading star, with Hunt maybe even further along the retirement curve.

Their paucity of mental and physical energy, manifesting in a string of hasty bombs and sketchy communication, means we rely on Walsh to provide the power plays. He's fantastic at that, but the more we rely on him the more he's targeted, the more he overplays his hand, and ultimately the more time we spend in our own half.

We seem to be building towards an implosion next season, with two floundering former legends weighing us down, and yet another set of high value extensions looming.
Do you think, and i honestly dont know as A) i live over the ditch B) I have never really seen him play. But is the half back succession plan ready? Would Black at the start or 2026 start in the NRL and hold his own?

I wouldn't know, but I don't think he is. The form of his team, the Magpies, which is stacked with next gen Broncos, hasn't been encouraging, particularly their shoddy defence. Reynold's deputy in Madden, has been let go early, along with Tyson Smoothy, who's become a pretty useful bench utility, especially if you have an 80 minute (ish) 9.

We've bet the bank on Hunt, maybe five years too late. Like @Sproj said we NEED him to fire.

I think we are well set for 2026 to be honest. Canberra has shown what an injection of youth can do for a side. Where I think we fall short is making the tough decisions on game day. Arthars and Hunt should not be playing next week and if we are honest, neither should Walsh BUT Walsh is clearly injured, hard to fault him for being so competitive but he can barely run.

Of course the big question is Haas for next week. Given this season looks over even if we make finals, might be worthwhile in the long run to just let him have the rest of the season off unless we wake from our slumber at the back end unexpectedly. Regardless, he is clearly very busted and if anyone deserves a break, its him.

We are nothing without Walsh. At worst he is zero sum.

I think arthurs earned a CHANCE at the spot after the bye. He was our best back last year and started well this year until he started to play injured.

But it's mariners time. We need some help at the back. Mariner isn't great either in that regard but at least him and karapani can ask questions and make them work for the tackle with their footwork. Both just need to straighten the **** up a little, at least out of our 20m.

And willison back to the bench. He deserved a shot at starting but he didn't take it.

I’d go a step further and say we NEED more from Hunt. He’s had a really poor season not helped by a very long injury break. He’s been a real bust sadly.
Prob looked better at 5/8. Just seems to slow for hooker ..

Nope don’t even think black is ready. Maybe 2027

Who the hell knows what happens , south’s down on troops ,broncos trying to get a win , Bennett will have something up his sleeve
South’s by 1 …

What does it ****ing matter when you have refs that change penalties to 6 agains at a whim and give tries to blatant offsides like Tedesco this week and deny one's like ours that was 50/50.

Literally toss a coin to see who wins because its not the players or teams that determine the outcome of games.

The NRL is a corrupt, predetermined farce with the sole purpose of turning a profit and promoting gambling.

**** the NRL, it is a shadow of the once great game we loved.

What did Arthurs do wrong to be dropped., for whom mariner who in my opinion has not really shown is full proteinial
Hunt played well and held his own

How often does Arthurs score tries compared to Mariner. Where was Arthurs when Staggs made that awesome break? No where in sight and how often was Athurs out of place.

That's a issue with Mariner as well a lot of the time he's missing when he should be there whether that be a kick behind the line or support play.
Happened a fair bit last night on both sides of the field.
It's like Arthur's and Karapani would take a side ways run then take 2 tackles to get back to their wing.

How many times have mariner been out of place when he has played and where was mariner when staggs made that break against titans last week huh 🤔.
And athurs as 11 tries compare to mariner 2. So no one ever perfect. but you could say Michael see mariner a back up centre then a winger.
