I mean it really doesn’t matter. Redcliffe will destroy us. Their attack is amazing and our team has lost all its cohesion with three players gone on top of the already outs. Katoa will carve us to pieces.

Madden would be the 6 in that halves pairing as well, but we would need Hunt to step up.

The issue is Hunt playing 7 at the dragons was all about him doing and creating everything... he had total control at dragons.

Him playing 7 in the broncos system is about setting it up for Walsh and then you have Madden who looks best when he's a runner.

I'm not sure we have the players smart enough to change to a different structure on a dime and be able to adapt to Hunt's halfback playing style.

Realistically what we really need from Hunt is to be a running threat.. he did a good enough job of straightening the attack tonight, but it was clear that he was never going to run it, which makes it infinitely easier for the defence, but it was very exceptional circumstances... hopefully with a week of training Hunt can see that he has a license to run if needed.

He's our best option at 7 and he probably needs to be given a bit of a license to just always be at first receiver and take options he wants.

Reece will always want it out the back, but that just brings us back to complaining that our halfback didn't take enough control of the game to overcall Reece.

I want to see a Ben Hunt that is playing both sides of the ruck, throwing short balls to second rowers... pushing his 6 and fullback out for spreads, taking short sides, etc.

Our defence actually showed a lot of resilience under the under the circumstances. We defend like that again but with all our interchanges, Staggs in the centres, and a planned halves pairing - I’m not too worried about the dolphins scoring, I’m just worried about how many points we have.
 
We are not winning anything with either Hunt or Reynolds in the team. We have two ageing players who won't or can't take the line on anymore. They drift sideways picking up runners which are easily handled by most defences.

Our forwards need to take a leaf from the Storm scum handbook and as soon as contact is made with the defence we need to dive towards the ground, get on our front and look for a quick play the ball.

Karapani back in for Cobbo, Piakura back in for Goseski who is barely Q Cup standard, Paix in for Hunt who goes to 6. Maybe try Walsh at 7 move Mariner to fullback and put Arthurs back on the wing. I know Mariner isn't a fullback but it's not like Walsh is setting the world on fire back there and we need a 7 who will at least take the line on.
 
I’m just stumped with what we decide to do with our halves. Hunt at 7 is the logical choice, but I don’t want to move him from 9 as well. I’d also want Billy coming off the bench but we do have more decent hooker depth with Paix etc. like others said, Madden at 6? I thought he might’ve been injured?

Where’s the up and coming electric 5/8? 😢
 
Hunt has been poor all year for sure but I think you move him into 7, I think Paix will come back in to start, it's just who you play at 5/8 that is the issue now.

I'd leave Billy playing off the bench, he has been great doing that, if we had another decent fullback I'd be thinking about moving Reece into 5/8 but because we don't that's not really an option.

I don't think Staggs really offers anything at 5/8 so not worth doing, which leaves Madden or Rogers.

Madge may just have to play Billy at 6.

Injuries really starting to hurt us now, Willison, Ezra and Reyno are big losses.
 
Rogers has been in good form, would be low maintenance and easy to slot in and can goal kick. Burt will cry, three weeks out from finals.

Madden is a risk, hasn't played since round 8, start of May. If he gets through this week against Townsville that will alleviate some risk, but do you play him this week now? Then he's playing NRL with no games in three months.

You could stand down Rogers from Redcliffe tomorrow but don't think you can stand down Madden and expect him to play next week.

Interesting Wynnum have named Paix at 13 this week against Townsville.
 
Gosiewski has to go. He provides absolutely nothing. There is no physicality at all in any part of his game. A Tontine pillow is a more menacing foe than Gosi. I'd rather J Hunt if Piakura isn't ready.

I expect this to be a real changing of the guard moment sadly, this is the moment The go past us and I'm sure when we get it back.
