Craddock says Hunt 7, Walters 6, Paix 9.

We're ****ed.

I am hoping that Arthars' poor form is 100% related to his rib issue, he's another week along and, assuming he hasn't damaged it further since, will be one week further healed. Surely he'll be brought in.

The problem is he doesn't bring the metres both Cobbo and Karapani bring and in modern league, metres from your wingers are vital.

He wasn't hampered at all on Saturday; even at the end of the game he was out on the field for a long time with a line of kids getting selfies. It was pretty miserable too, so he wasn't going anywhere.

Id prefer we go
6. Madden/Rogers
7. Bhunt
9. Paix
14. Billy

If whoever they have at 6 is failing during the game then Billy can be there as a break glass.

Paix can also play longer minutes if needed as well.

The choice between Madden and Rogers comes down to the coaches, but also Patty, Bhunt and Walsh.

You could also go with whoever is the better defender.

Walsh can generate points, but hes not great when it comes to chasing points.

The less chance we put him into chasing points the better off we will be

I would have went with hunt and madden/rogers and kept walters on the bench but its shit either way.

One positive of smoothy on the bench is we could a few minutes in the middle defensively out of him in a lock type role. He hasn't been bad in the middle, although he should just be used for 10 mins (after 20-30 mins subbing paix)

I'd leave piakura on the bench, with talty and hethrington. We need to have energy off the bench. Giving smoothy 10 in the middle, talty 20, hethrington 30, gos can go on there for 10 as well (60 mins total with piakura last 30 mins running straight and hard off the edge). Emphasise leg speed and cutting in behind the marker.

Small pack, big energy! Fast ptbs are what helps us play well, especially walsh (and mam when he plays).

Hunt is going to need to step the fk up in a big way with that halves pairing. If its sling the ball to Walsh at every chance ball its going to be a long night.
I don't think they can "step up." We have three ball lobbers in the spine, who can all kick a bit but can't run more than ten yards. Our centres are the ones who will need to take control. Otherwise, it's all on Reece, and as @Sproj says we know how that will work out.

Joel Gould saying that Walters trained at 6 yesterday. Karapani looked the favourite to replace Cobbo, which I like. Hunt obviously to 7. Paix to 9. Smoothy to 14. (I am guessing)

I am still pretty positive with the team being able to win against Dolphins. There were signs there against Storm, where we'd get into good ball through effort, but we would screw it up, possibly due to zero cohesion in the halves. Walters would have done a better job at 6 instead of Staggs in attack, but that'd leave the hooker position with nobody to fill really.

Long story short; we know that can get into the opposition red zone against a team like Melbourne, even with an injured team. We just need to not beat ourselves with errors and wasted opportunities, which comes down to our spine having composure.

Collective effort to get into the redzone. Plus, if Walsh and Walters on the same page in attack, Hunt defends/kicks well, and Paix doesn't give shit service, I can see us winning.

Walters has settled nicely into 14. He's been able to play within his limitations and everyone seems to have forgotten said limitations as if they've gone away.

At 6, they're laid bare. He will offer nothing that Hunt can't do better, and that's on old legs. Whether Paix passes to Hunt or Walters, that won't be where the action happens. There will be no sudden explosion.

It's no coincidence our season got back on track when Mam injected some elusiveness and speed into the spine.

It's a sad state of our roster when the goto backup at 6 is still making his case at 14 thanks only to the absence of the rookie Blake Mozer; the presumed heir to 7 in Black just put in a blinder in Cup but is still considered a child; and the three Cup halves (Madden, Rogers and Seigwalt) were immediately dismissed as substandard.

With Reynolds going around again next season, what will change?
