PRE-GAME [Round 3, 2025] Broncos vs Cowboys

Knee lifting isn't aggression. It's also one of the most over used and pointless 'attributes' in a player that people bring up.

Come on man, do better. What about any of my posts makes you think I'm referring to knee lifting being a positive?

He tackles hard and runs with venom (not the stupid knee lifting), Jensen does neither.

I really don't care about tackling hard, I care about tackle efficiency. Same with running hard, I want running metres.

Based off 2024 stats as they are most recent, and this doesn't even take into account that Jensen started and did a lot of his work against fresh opponents.

Jensen 2024 averages:
Minutes: 51
Runs: 13
Metres: 112m
Tackles: 30
Missed tackles: 1

Taupau:
Minutes: 29
Ave Runs: 8
Ave m: 76m
Tackles: 16
Missed tackles: 0

When it comes to errors and penalties, they both conceded 4 each total for the season. Difference is Jensen did his in 1240mins of game time compared to 379mins from Taupau.

I'm not saying Taupau can't be effective, but he's not as good a player as Jensen is, and is way older. If we aren't going to be using Jensen in the 17, we should be looking to trading him to a team short of middles for an edge back rower.

See for the role we are looking for, I don't think Jensen is a better player. They are only 4 years apart, so not like Jensen is a spring chicken either. Jensen should not be making some of the dumb errors he has been at his age when he is nothing more than a safe player.

It is the same as Shibasaki and Gosiewski. All three I would assume have been picked to add older, mature heads who are good at defense. If they aren't doing their two job of being safe and dependable well, then they should be under pressure to keep their spots.

And Jensen might have gone ok over the season last year but look how badly the team went compared to 2023. I wouldn't be resting on my laurels if I were him. I think he gets named this week but he will want to step up. Another mediocre game on the back of rounds 1 and 2 might see Maguire make changes for found 4.

Peeks in for Goz?

That's a dumb question. Will Kennedy would have been more effective than Walsh on Saturday, doesn't mean we should try and organise a trade.

The role you're looking for maybe, that might not be what Madge wants.

I think Shib and Gos were rewarded with starting roles simply due to being harder workers in the off season, unfortunately Gos showed Saturday that he's just average, always has been and always will be.

I'm not saying he should be living off the glory of last year. But he shouldn't be a scapegoat either.

I thought Hunt had minimal involvement on Sunday for Wynnum and couldn't even remember a run.

3 runs
80 minutes

Allen came off the bench chased a kick to score and had six runs in 26 minutes.

Marty had 11 runs in 54 minutes and only gave away one penalty- Souths had no ball and struggled too.

Whilst I've been critical of Gos, I dunno about dropping anyone completely out of the 17 just yet. I don't mind if it's just a swap of roles with Piakura though. He'll still get a chance off the bench at some point in the game.

I'm now more concerned about Mariner, and whether he is going to be okay.

Clifford set to be recalled in place of Duffy.

Cowboys looked a lot better last year with him in at halfback. Took pressure off Dearden which only makes them better.

Gos might be a good trainer, but he’s not first grade quality. If Piakura can play with a bit of discipline he’s so much better than Gos.

He did that a lot last year as well didn’t he, where he just did genuinely **** all.

Meh. Was hoping for a reshuffle, but Madge is probably right to give them a chance for redemption, Jetski and Shibasaki included. Nice to see Kotoni in the reserves. Shame Mozer isn't there as well.

I hope we see a different Walsh this round.
