POST GAME Round 4 - Broncos vs Raiders

Well we may as well agree to disagree, because I completely disagree, I think his weight is the primary reason he's struggling to have impact.

I'm not sure why you keep mentioning his "build", this isn't grade 8 physical education, you aren't defined by your body type as a professional athlete, you're defined by things like body fat % and skin fold measurements, which I have no doubt would've worsened in the last 18 months.
Actually you're not. Body fat % and Skin fold measurements define your appearance more than your stamina or speed, which is why they are so important to body builders. An islander with higher values than a caucasian won't necessarily be less fit or fast.

Skin fold measurements and body fat % are used for periodic comparison of the same person, not to compare with others.

You may be right that they have worsened in the last 18 months, but to blame Milford's form and the Broncos dog's breakfast of an attack on him being "fat", is not only unfair on the kid... it's either incredibly naive, or an attempt to deflect blame.

Few random thoughts from tonight.

Herman was great, bar the error. Needs to get that out of his game but shoud be an easy enough fix. I get the feeling Herman's form is spurring on TPJ. There was one stage in the second half where I'd just been pissed at Pangai for not running straight and hard enough and he had one of his best hit ups of the night off the back of a strong run of Hermans.

Gillet is a beast. Dislike he's always flat footed when he gets the ball, but hardly matters when he's so good in defence.

Not sold on Moga yet either, as others have said he is coming back from injury. But compare that to Kahu who just seemed to ooze class when he first cracked the team - Moga hasn't given me that same impression. Kahu lost speed, which was obvious tonight on a couple of occasions, and Moga's power game obviously isn't what it used be. But Kahu has compensated by nailing other areas of his game, Moga really needs to do the same. Never thought I'd miss Opacic for his attack, but our left edge isn't clicking just yet.

I've got a feeling Oates is going to be targeted more and more under the high ball and can see him finishing the season on the bench as a forward if he doesn't drastically imorove... Which I don't see happening. He's a gun winger in most other areas, but we can't carry that sort of weakness into a grand final. I doubt it'd happen but if our bench continues to improve I would drop Glenn.

I agree Milford needs to slim down, there where a couple of occasions tonight where he had enough space that it woulda been trytime 9/10 in his Canberra days - losing that is not worth whatever defensive improvement its meant to bring.... I guess I can see why Bennett was to quick to berate Benji and jump to Milford's defence - this sort of thing seems like it's getting to him as is he was off his game tonight. It certainly didn't appear to fire him up. Given that, don't think dropping or benching him is the answer.

Great game from Macca, his two support runners should both get assist though, Herman and someone else - maybe Sims? - ran great lines to hold up the defenders when he dummied.

I was really impressed with Roberts efforts without the ball a couple of times tonight which was good as well. The tackle on Crocker obviously stands out.

Also, why the **** does my phone correcting Moga to Mohammad??

I love Gillo irrespective of how well he performs, and he's been in great form for a long time, but geez he needs to run straight more often. Sick of seeing him crab across the field. Darbs too. It's such a bad look for our (lack of) attacking structure
That's not really on them. Any time our plan A breaks down, everyone who doesn't have the ball stands still. Nobody runs a line. Nobody follows Boyd's signals. Nobody follows the ball carrier who is looking for an offload. Nobody even takes a few steps backwards to get out of the way. We need bodies in motion.

Crotric looks fantastic as well for a young fella. Has had an excellent start to the year. Stamping and early claim for rookie of the year.

Oh yeah I understand that completely, and that's a symptom of the whole issue with our attack. But there's a point where doing it nearly touchline to touchline looks silly when no-one tries to help. Just run forward if nothing's on. It's a small gripe, but gets compounded by the other problems we have in the attacking 20

Moga hasn't offered anything in attack because he plays outside of Milford. That's all you need to know

I know you're on an irrational Milford hate streak, but you're right. It's hard for Moga to do but much in attack when Milf won't pass him the damn ball. No coincidence that Oates hasn't been scoring tries either. The play dies with Milford every time.

Have to agree. He isn't as sharp as he was. Everything he has always had is still there apart from 2 things. The speed off the mark and his confidence. He is turning into the Broncos era Ben Barba.

Attack was poor. Left side defense was poor. No cohesion or confidence in attack stopped the Broncos winning by a few tries imo.

Notice how we found the grass a lot more with our long kicks tonight? We're definitely starting to mix it up, as every team has learned to pressure Hunt.

Hunt with 5 kicks, 130 metres.
Macca with 4 kicks, 101 metres.
Milford with 10 kicks, 254 metres.

Will you look at that milf did contribute

What happened to left side of Broncos. Last year it's was one of dangerous left side. Broncos score too many tries on left side last year but this year it's all over the place. Jason Demetriou Is assistant coach for Broncos. Is he attaching coach. I hope not he was attaching coach for dragon last year. The last night the attack was so horrible. It's was remaining me dragon attack last year. The way I see it's new attacking structures are not helping Broncos half. They completely lost what to do. It's already round 4. How long it's gone take to understand the attacking structure. In 2015 Broncos got new head coach and assistant coach. First two round was bad but third round Broncos attack was so good. Alex Glenn is not middle foward. He is edge backrow. I think his best position is left edge backrow.

Not a bad game from the Broncs, we got the win which is really all that matters though there are still some glaring deficiencies in our game, especially our attack. The bench was the real standout, they are all looking the goods so far this season.

A wins a win, let move onto next week.

Can't run forward. They stand so flat if they did they would be off side. Where's the depth, and where are those nifty plays like inside-outside we used to do so well?

Last night was almost funny at times in their red zone when everyone seemed to stand around waiting for someone else to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

We need depth and bodies in motion along with a few plans on what to do with ball other than pass and hope.

This..

Farkn livid how either it was Boyd or Milford, who'd run 1way.. then stop... and then go the opposite..no direction..looked so under 9s type play

If you read Pushkin's posts in Vladimir Putin's voice it is amazing.
