Round 4 Discussion

It's impressive how Des has improved struggling players so far this year. Hopoate has been very good since going back under him and even T-Rex has been showing some form.

I think he's past it to be honest. At least at Fullback.

Must admit, I didn't think he looked as big as he does now in the all stars game. Agree with what I have seen the last couple of weeks with him at Fullback. He is letting others field the ball a lot and as a result he isn't hurting the opposition with his returns.

Has that plan ever worked in recent history?

Desperate times, desperate measures and all that but usually it just informs the other team that there's no intention of scoring points, so teams are just conceding 20 minutes and the halves that do come on struggle to get into the contest.

The Roosters may get up because of the better turn-around from last week's game but I don't know about master stroke or anything like that.

Well isn't the definition of madness doing the same thing and expecting a different result?

I get that POV, I just think if you're a half you want to take ownership of the side and being placed on the bench infers that the coach doesn't have the confidence in you to succeed.

As an aside, it's interesting that while we focus a lot on Jayden, a lot of media personalities like Freddy and Joey (who is their halves coach) have been quite critical of Jackson Hastings. His lack of organisation has hindered Jayden's game and we should keep that in mind when assessing Nikorima's performance.

If Jayden had to leave the club, I would have preferred to see him in Melbourne as they would have taken care of him but that's all by the by.

It should be a good game, who are you barracking for soupy?

I hope manly and the rorters both find a way to lose.

This, 100% this!

And yeah... while I'm going for the rorters tonight, I reckon Manly will take the game. (I would throw up in my mouth rooting for either team)

Hodgson continues to assert himself as the form hooker of the competition, great set-up for Whitehead.

Also a strong carry from Papalii in the lead-up. He appears to be back in his 2013 form.

Raiders lead 12-0 after 13.

Poor work from FPN.

The Raiders had a golden opportunity to extend their lead after the Shillo mistake. Instead FPN goes the double pump and throws a god-awful pass in-front of Williams.

Shillo loses the ball again, but this time he receives a penalty. Titans on the attack...

Bird's off after some friendly fire from Shillo.

A rookie mistake from Taylor nearly cost the Titans there.

The Raiders have done well here.

The referees have seemingly been doing their best to even up the penalty count yet the Titans have yet to get themselves on the board.

The Gold Coast really missed Bird's direction there and it appears Morts is really struggling out of dummy half.

Gold Coast are the walking wounded at the moment.

Don's up the tunnel causing another reshuffle here.

Raiders should extend their lead here.

It's up to Passi and James to get the Titans back into this.

Paul Vaughan is so good. My favourite Raider, alongside Big Papa and... Sam Williams of course.

That was too easy for Ryan James.

The Raiders absolutely monstered Taylor the tackle before and Brenko Lee just invites James to run through a monster gap.

It's a credit to the Titans defence that was able to hang on after it appeared the momentum had shifted back to the Raiders.

12-6 and this could end up a lot like last week.

Or maybe not.

The Raiders make the Titans pay for a poor kick with a very simple try to Edrick Lee. Quick play-the-balls from Wighton and Rapana allows Hodgson to take it to the line and put Lee through a yawning gap and restore the Raiders lead.

18-6 after 38
