PRE-GAME [Round 5, 2024] Broncos vs Storm

The whole Storm team should start slowly given the bye and a change in the halves paring. We need to win the game early before they get into a rhythm. Last weeks start was awesome, but I don't think the Storm will be as error prone as the Cowboys.
Storm lost 2/3 games last season coming off the bye.
28-12 vs Souths
45-20 vs Cowboys
Hopefully the slow start comes into full effect

Almost certainly Kevvie is putting Te Kura in because Souths have a big layoff, might be a bit early against a team like Storm but will be very interesting regardless.

Haas is out, we saw how handy Willison size and impact was from the bench. Te Kura has been in pretty good touch to start the year with everything but his hands. I don’t see this as a throwing him to the wolves moment he has a very good carry and good defence he lacks in fitness but 25-30 minutes he can chuck out unaffected and Hetho and Jensen can still increase minutes. Tactically I think it’s a very good idea from Kev and I’m glad his age and lack of inexperience wasn’t a deterrent. He is in our top 30 you have to be prepared to use these players, Te Kura is ready and I think this isn’t a bad time to see what he has got. Can’t mollycoddle everyone.

Geez, tough luck for Willison, but yeh, the next guy up stands at 205 cm and is the tallest player in the NRL.

Not "too" bad a replacement....

Speaking of replacements, Tristan Sailor. How lucky are we to have him right now? The great Brisbane teams of the past had the Plaths, the Berrigans, the Walkers who could come in and produce when needed.

The thing about Sailor is, he cant do "everything" Walsh can (well...no-one can really..) but with him at fullback we dont have to change our attacking shapes at all.

God only knows how long we can conceviably keep him here, but while he is, i'm very happy to have him in a Broncos jersey this Thursday.

It's Definitely not throwing him to the Wolves but slightly off ideal for him personally and more circumstance for him being selected.

Willison and Haas being out means we lack size so it makes sense in that regard, but him not playing for 3 weeks would also be a factor and why he was 18th man last week too.

Marty is completely past it from my view so the risk from the teams perspective is low.

I feel like Wishart and Smoothy are basically the same level, outside Wishart being able to play other positions at a meh level.

In the end it'll come down to who runs and competes the hardest. I think we'll be fired up.

Pressure is on Storm still 4 blokes to come into our team and one into there’s. I think Willison out really hurts but I will still back us. Everything has gone in the Storms favour in the lead up but the confidence is high after finals last year and last weeks performance so let’s go beat those *****!

I mean, he’s bulking up and looks strong, how is he not working on his body?

And of course I’m sticking up for a player I like just like you are looking can opportunity to bag out a player you’ve bagged out several times who made an error and somehow twisting that toward a ‘could happen’ situation.

He could turn out to be the next Latrell, he could also turn out to be the next Hodges, Lockyer or Lazarus. So what? He hasn’t.

And how long ago was this training ethic? How many years now? Is it impossible to grow up and mature?

Thats an absolutle crock of shit saying i'm looking for an opportunity to bag him out when the week before i was praising him heaps. You dont mention that though. I dont get why you cant simply accept a player being criticised just because he is one of your favourites. Like i said, i'm sure you stick the boot into plenty of players you dont like when they make errors or perform badly. Being critical isnt bagging somebody out. Dont you think Kevvie, his coaching team and the other players arent critical of each other when mistakes are made? Doing that is how you learn and get better.

He's got bigger, depends on how you want to look at bulking up. Adding weight and adding muscle are two completely different things He's added weight, like Mariner has, but Mariner isnt carrying excess weight where you can see Selwyn is. Not a great deal, but he isnt in as good a shape as he could be. Its all about doing some extras in your training and lifestyle. Time will tell how he goes with it.

As for his training, he's still turning up late, just not as much as he was, and he doesnt push himself as much as he probably could, but that side of things at the moment is managable for him. Its something imo he does need to keep an eye on. Not a comparison directly, but Milford for example got so far on his talent, until he didnt. Maybe if he was a little more profesional he would still have a career.

Even if Munster plays, there's absolutely no way he's going to be 100%.

Whenever he gets the ball, I want to see us rush up on him and limit his time with the ball. He's not going to be as elusive as he is with that step of his.

Kick pressure on Hughes.

If we hold the ball and complete high, chase hard on the kicks and have good line speed in defence, we've got the strike to win.

This game is winnable.
