POST GAME [Round 5, 2024] Broncos vs Storm

this

anyone who says that they can definitively see the white ball touch the grass when completely surrounded by white jersey's, white boots and white socks and only peaking through a tiny gap between the bodies ... is a fucking liar
Hmmmm…. I usually always agree with you @Foordy, but I must say, if that’s Smoothy with the ball and you saw the replay, you’d say try. It looked like the ball was on the turf.

Definitely not our worse @HarryAllan7.
In fact, I think he played better than he did last week.
Interesting… Can’t agree with you on that one mate.
Thought he was constantly out of position, totally lazy and silly plays like the chip and chase in the dying minutes, when composure is essential, which directly led to the winning Melb try are infuriating.

I will agree that he had some very serious competition from Baker and Hunt for worst on field tonight though

This game has got everything in it.

Typical grubby play from the cheaters all night. They were getting away with too much. If not for 2 bombed tries from Billy & Arthurs, the game is ours.

Big Ben is here to stay. He & Willison will create havoc in the middle.

Kev should mandate & put a blanket ban on short kick offs. We suck at it in every aspect and give the opposing teams every opportunity to score right away.
I didnt see Billy bomb a try... I saw Sailor throw a pass to his bootstraps a meter in front of him and he couldnt grab onto it..

No Haas, Reynolds, Walsh, Piakura, Willison and push the storm to the end in Melbourne by playing footy.

We lost but we had the Storm playing our style not theirs and that’s says a lot, I’m really proud of their effort

If they can get their heads focused on defence, which comes with having a consistent team on the field, we will get on a roll

Its early days, but we have real bench impact now with Willison and Te Kura. Its a lot to expect to get a full year out of them, but they have a real physicality about them. Once Payno is back, those 2 coming off the bench with Jensen and Payne starting is going to be pretty impressive. We can then get Hetherington giving Patty a stint ( he simply cant keep these herculean efforts up, its ridiculous to expect it ) and we have an excellent forward rotation.
Yep Te Kura was insane tonight.

Could you imagine the impact that Te Kura & Willison could bring as the middles on the bench... Kobe needs to learn how to be a second rower yesterday so he can take that 17 jersey, because those two are coming up fast.

that decision to run the ball on the 5th tackle from our 40 meter line was one of the really weak parts about tonight. Right up there with Fletcher baker getting bowled over by a reserve grade halfback

Your jersey is closer to him than you, maybe ASICS will redirect it there for you?

Also, Kotoni, PASS THE BALL AFTER A BREAK. PASS IT.

Yeah, Kotoni never stops trying, but he tried too hard there. That, Cobbo's chip, and Sailor's bomb to no one, just so frustrating in a close loss.

That wasn't on Billy.

Set the trend the other way. Boom them downfield, pick the moment for a short one.

Because the attack was absolutely rudderless and they figured some points were better than no points. Not the right option, but the only difference would have been they lost by 4 points instead of 2.

They were outplayed the entire night. Just a bit of luck made it competitive.

Ezra wants to take over the game management when Reyno retires, what better practice is he going to get?

I would rather go down by 4 backing ourselves than taking the easy option.

I must watch it again… either that, or I was just blown away by how shit Baker is.. the bloke couldn’t take down a Christmas ornament, let alone someone running the ball at him…

Off topic, good piece on walshey and his junior club. He does a lot of community things that he doesn’t get credit for. Link to the go fund me is on the Nerang roosters facebook.

If we can hold onto Xavier and Ben for 2 or 3 years we just might see one of the best forward pack ever assembled.

8. Haas
10. Xavier
11. Piakura
12. Riki
13. Carrigan

15. Hetherington
16: Te Kura

Its a very good quality pack, and its got a high ceiling in the middles, buit I dont think it matches our 2006 pack of Webcke, Petero, Thorn, Carroll, Thiaday, Berrigan, Parker, Carlaw and Hannant, or our 1998 pack of Webcke, Lee, Gee, Tallis, Thorn, Carroll, Petero, Hancock, Plath Campion. Our back row options currently are just nowhere near what those sides were.
