Round 5 Discussion

While we're on the topic of overrated, Lyon's gotta be in the discussion, he's been a corpse so far this year, 2 errors, 2 penalties and a couple of awful kicks tonight, he's cooked.

He was all year last year too. Except that one game. You know, that game. Fat ****.

A strange old game that.

Souths were obviously reeling from last week's result and made it a point to start well. Manly couldn't handle them in the opening period, with the Burgess boys and Grevs proving too big a handful for the Manly pack. However as fatigue set in and the Sea Eagles began to get more physical in defence, it was like the emperor had no clothes. Suddenly it was Manly with Koroisau, Trbojevic, Taufua, Parcell, Walker etc. who had the running and Souths could barely hold on.

Yet, that was all Manly had. They had no trouble getting the Rabbitohs to back-peddle but when it came time to put together a constructive play they looked lost and their execution was as poor as you'd expect it to be.

In the end, they were one play from winning that game. They couldn't find it and Souths despite being MIA for 65 minutes did enough to hold on.

Ah i thought I heard something haha. He tried to take it back quickly and moved on quickly too.

"We just fucken... ooh [covers his mouth] ... We just came out and...".

did anyone notice something come up on the screen saying something like 'Caution........' missed the rest on ch 9

Yeah he plays for Manly in his spare time, must have been a condition in his contract with the Eels.

Cook looked pretty promising for the Dogs. Been pretty quiet with Souths.

I was about to write Manly have nothing in attack near the south's line but they just cracked it as I typed (a bit out from the line though).

Yeah, I was surprised they let Cook go. Hasler has made some strange looking recruitment decisions in the last few years.

Sorry Im a bit new but what does svrl mean, is it like nrl fantasy

?Unless I am going mad did not Foran play for Manly up until this year? Clearly I wasn't talking about this year and given the change of coach and changing out half the team I am happy rating the players on last year moreso than this year.

Brett Stewart is so overrated.

Really? He has been one of the most consistent fullbacks around and one of the better ones of his time. Great support player. Past his best yes but not overrated.

Fair enough then, I thought you were referring to this season mate.

I've always been suss on Damien.

Despite Lichaa clearly struggling with the 80 minute workload, Cook couldn't crack the 17. When he did receive the opportunity, he took it with both hands and was arguably the form Dogs player. However, with players like that you just wait for the other foot to drop and while it's early days he hasn't impressed me at the Rabbitohs. He's behind McInnes who has talent but is still indecisive for a hooker and he's yet to really impress me off the bench.

I've seen his name tossed up as an Origin candidate on here and I've never understood that viewpoint.

He had some blinders last year but hasnt done much to back it up this year. I guess its easier to find gaps in the line and make tackles when your big guys are doing their job well.

I couldn't believe that mistake from Smith.

Melbourne still look rusty to me. I can't see this Knights team beating them but I wouldn't be surprised to see them exposed at some point.
