Round 5 Discussion

I think its the difference between good and bad development. Look at Luai for example. Had to bide his time behind Maloney until he was a 23 year old. Up until then he was a bit part player for them. Cleary played earlier, but next to an experienced half who could manage a game in Maloney. They had their young forwards learning from and then taking over the likes of Tamou and Merrin. Its night and day from what we are doing. If we did a similar thing, then i believe our players would be going a lot better.

You can see the difference between players like their who have been allowed to develop and learn their trade over ours who have been thrown in with little guidance in a basket case team under a basket case coach in Seibold. I think its a bit of a moot point to even compare our blokes even if they have had similar game time. We are just clueless.
I totally agree with you Pies strategy of burning the boats and ruthlessly gutting our team was done so half arsed we're still paying for it. And when you see players like Fifita today you have to wonder why no one in that front office has not been frog marched out of Red Hill for the sheer incompetence that has been shown time and time again. When I see players like Walker and Walsh run around in the next couple of years I'll still be pissed off.

2 from 20!!
Just give us something to lift our spirits Broncos ffs.

Absolutely. I still think with Locky on the board and his knowledge of the game should have flagged it was a dumb move to do what we did. I reckon if you throw blokes like Haas, Flegler, Carrigan, Dearden etc into a system like the Storm or the Rorters you see them playing a lot less football and not have them expected to carry a footy club like the Broncos, and you see better footballers for it.

We may have been able to follow that same path if Hunt and Taylor weren't offered stupid money to leave. It fucked up the Dragons and Titans of course, they've had little success because it limited the talent they could put around those big dollar signings. But fucked us up even more, because our long term halves plans were destroyed overnight.

Absolutely. I think over the years though we have been so caught up in either wanting a superstar for every position or trying not to lose every good young player we have we have taken our eyes off the ball and got a very unbalanced squad. For every Hodges, you have to balance it out with a De Vere or a Jack Reed type player.

I have a mate from Goondiwindi who is mates with Patty Carrigan's dad. We spoke about how good he was from as far back as 4 years ago and watched his progress. We knew how good his attitude was and how he'd end up being our next GF captain. That may now not happen as he too has been damaged by Pies wreckless decision to play him for 80 minutes and make him captain. he was way too young and inexperienced for that mantle. Hope to god he realises it was not him but poor and desperate management on Pies behalf. I'm hopeful he will recover and that suspension was a blessing in disguise. Him, Riki, Flegs and Haas should all be playing less minutes. This is my only whinge with Kevvie so far. Why Carty and Matto have not chimed in with advice is baffling. He's not doing the boys any favours at present.

Straight from the CS9 playbook that one

Will be interesting to see how ruthless the storm are this game... if it were the broncos they were playing then they would be eyeing 80... but it’s only the useless dogs so will they just settle for a glorified training run and only get to 30 odd.

they’re scoring tries at the moment, but it’s not exactly the high octane, spreading the ball from one side to the other type of football they ass against us

This could get real ugly......................the scoreline blowouts look to continue.

How are the Storm the first ones in a month to concede points to the Bulldogs

Against the broncos or a decent team the storm player would’ve “tackled” the dogs player standing in the line to try and get an obstruction penalty.

storm will look to coast through this game

Haas will get burned out as well imo. You cant put that much on younger players, especially in a losing side and expect them to keep going.

I was at the 1998 grand Final when we came from behind and rogered the doggies. The scum bastards in the tier above us threw piss they had deposited in cups and cans instead of going off to the loo and missing the game when we took the lead. Who does that?

I hope to **** the Storm take them to 80 tonight.

Jeez, if the Doggies somehow come back to beat Melbourne, i would be calling Broncos for a second consecutive spoon.

Nah i think Haas is another beast. He will still progress no matter what, but imagine how better he'd be with a mongrel like Moose teaching him how to never give a loser a break.
