Man, losing Reece is a massive blow. But adapting to win without relying on him, early in the season. might be exactly the hard yards this team needs.

Consensus amongst fans doesn't consider Reynolds a huge loss, but if Hunt is out, that changes the complexion. This is when Billy might've been handy.

Speaking of Hunt, he belongs in the 7 jumper, but unfortunately, nowhere else. With Pezet the heir apparent to Reynolds, that leaves his prospect of extension down to how little he's prepared to accept to be a utility backup, putting him in direct competition with Billy, who is less ancient and possibly more versatile.

Hunt has one more year, tops, but Billy might be able to land a leadership starting position with one of the new clubs. It will be an interesting negotiation for Donuts.
 
If Duffy plays he should be given an edict to bomb the life out of Drinkwater. He's a good general play kicker especially from 40m out which our forwards should be able to achieve against a weak Cowboys pack.

Drinkwater has crumbled at Suncorp many times over the years he doesn't like kick pressure especially from our big outside backs.
 
Arthars has the NRL form but I don’t know if I trust him for a month of footy. Hayze has been safe as houses and played his foil perfectly alongside Duffy. If Duffy plays I think you take that combo with you. If not I think it’s more than likely Jesse will keep the spot albeit that wouldn’t necessarily be my decision.

I said during the week the rest of the season will be a very important period for Ezra’s Broncos career and when the generals went off and it came time to look around and see who will get us over the line he kicked right into gear and took the game away from them very quickly. Not perfect in a lot of areas still but he awoke his running and threat game, which is what his asset to this team is so I’m happy. Will have to continue to step up over the next few weeks despite some niggles.
 
Was interesting re-watching the highlights of the game today. Noticed arthurs didnt seem to be playing fb in attack on the backline plays. He was kind of centre on the long shifts. He hung around the ruck when the ball was in the middle. Used his strengths.

Another great piece of coaching by madge. I seriously think he is one of, if not the best coach in the game these days. The way he gets the best out of any scenario is outstanding. Injuries - even to spine players, penalised and 6 agained to extrordinary levels, media pressure at broncos/origin, changes in games, different situations (eg club, state, international). Name a coach that could win a premiership with the injuries we had last year and old boys breathing down their neck, and he didnt even have his own coaching staff lol wild.

Its the only coach and club that I think could go on a winning streak without its best player haha. Sounds wild? I give you the 300 examples madge has given us recently when adversity strikes. Its like they club wants it!

Still have haas, Patty, Xavier in the pack who are on another level to any cows middle. Just have to pray that the ref doesn’t blow a jillion six agains to the cows which negates the need for middles or forwards in general
