How are we feeling about Willison at lock? Hetherington was great cover there last year but I can see big X getting the job done

Without Patty there to do any ball playing are they potentially going full power game?

With Twal at 13 for Tigers they basically run 3 props, so you don't necessarily want to run with a smaller middle or a ballplaying lock (that doesn't even exist for us after Patty), so with X at 13 is he potentially lining up for an 80minute dogs game.

I think in the panthers game last year X was playing his first game after a decent layoff with injury... so Payne ended up playing 80mins.

This time around X has been playing so he's ready to go and I think he's jumping in to do Patty's minutes... hence being named at 13.

Payne's normal sub is 30mins he comes off and then he comes back on at 50mins when Patty comes off.

I think I'd like to keep that rotation, if X is ready to play long minutes and churn through the work.

X showed in the dogs game that he can be a workhorse middle, which is basically Patty's game, whereas Payne's second stint is usually higher impact, tackle breaking and offloading.

When he plays long minutes he doesn't really have that same impact later in the game.... and I think I would want that up my sleeve.

So the gameplan could just be super simple Bennettball style and let's drag this game to 80mins... give Madge a chance to take Payne off and bring him back for a second stint to blast them away.

Badel reports that Reynolds is an almost cert starter on Saturday. he has a fitness test tomorrow

Madge believes Paix will get a clearance to play as well. the club doctors think he is fine, but he needs to see an independent neurosurgeon tomorrow to get cleared by the NRL. Should Paix get the green light Josh Rogers is likely to drop out of the squad altogether.

Madge on Reynolds

“Adam should be right which is a boost for us,” Maguire said.

“He was pretty close last week, but he just felt it (his groin) during the kicking part, so we wanted to give him another week (of rest).

“He has trained and he has done everything on the field over the last two training sessions, so he is looking good.”

Madge of Paix

“I think Paixy will play but we’re dealing with a concussion space where you just don’t know,”

“According to our doctors, yes he’s fine.

“The last thing I would do is go into the space of playing players if there are concerns in that regard (around concussion).

“Paixy is up and about. I’ve spoken to him and he says he’s absolutely fine, so we’ll wait and see what the independent doctors says and go from there.

“Josh Rogers is there and he did a fair job last week.”

Madge on Bukowski

“Cameron can definitely handle first grade,”

“Cameron is developing and working really hard. He is maturing well and understands the game, it’s just a matter now of him working away at the small parts of his game and when the time comes being ready for it.

“Whether it lands this week or not, Cam is doing everything he can to make sure he is ready.”

Saw a Manly fan page posted a highlights pack of Hetho from the last couple weeks and shit he is someone it would have been great to keep. His efforts to get the quick play the ball, and even his nack of being in the right place at the right time like he was in his try against the Dargs. Can't keep em all obviously, just timing of us being light at 13 this week and now I'm seeing random Hetherington highlights videos 😂

Not really a fan of Rogers at 9 or 14 good in a pinch but not a whole game
I think it's just a bit of mind games

I feel like Rogers drops to the HIA sub again.

I think Paix and Buk come into the 9 and 14 jerseys respectively, and Rogers moves to 20th man.

I would love to fit Semu in there somewhere... it sounds like he's playing well at Qcup level so it would be a good reward to debut him and he also brings some size to the bench... we've also got big minute starting middles, so you're just getting him out there to gas it for 20mins before Payne or Willison come back on.

Unfortunately I think Gos gets a spot on the bench to cover both Riki and Piakura... if one of the edges go down, I don't want to move Willison out there and I'm not sure Madge would trust Jhunt to play long minutes on an edge.

It does mean the bench is super small, because I think you also need to pick Duffy to cover a potential Reyno injury and then Perham to cover outside backs.

Maybe Madge goes with Semu instead of Jhunt, purely to have a bit of size on the bench and to see how he goes in NRL whilst he's at peak confidence.

By playing outstanding come from behind football.
Particularly in the Raiders game, where despite the refs being out to get us, they gave us a penalty to tie the game in the 80th minute and then denied a match winning try to the Raiders in the 90th minute.

They were both the correct calls and we deserved to win, but they could have ****ed us on both calls and they wouldn't have been the biggest howlers of all time.

How does that debunk it?

His first game back was the Dolphins and he played well. He got injured in his second game back which is what @Sproj said...
Apologies.

In my hazy recollection he was hobbling after that Dolphins' game so I counted that as an injury. If not, you're right: the Titans game where he lasted 20 minutes, wasn't coming off an injury, that was the next injury. Which makes this game the new "coming off an injury."

It's hard to keep up.

It's the initial contact point that denotes the grading, not where the shoulder ends up. You can't tell that from a still. I'm not arguing that some get off lightly or don't get caught. Just like we get away with the odd forward pass:

That still IS at the initial point of contact, taken from a frame by frame of the live slow mo footage. It's the only angle I could find unfortunately so not great, but clearly impacts X's jaw with moderate force given the creasing to his face.

What the **** do forward passes from 3 years ago have to do with anything? Of course all teams get away with things at times and get unfairly pinged at others, I've never argued otherwise. Heck, the NRL have come out now and said the Drinky disruptor was the wrong call, as was Toia's, but they're obviously fine with Shiba's since it didn't rate a mention - which IMO given the timing of his arrival at Chester (after the ball was dropped) makes it the most egregious call of the three. If his head was down and he smashed Chester into the turf it's play on, Broncos try - but somehow because he got there a fraction late, jumped and looked at Chester as well as the ball, it's not ok.

How bad did Reece’s eye look in the insta story, dear god

We will win this one. 22-10
