POST GAME [Round 8, 2026] - Broncos vs Bulldogs

At the game Piakura was in noticeable discomfort for pretty much the whole half. Id be amazed if he was 80% before the game even started with his limp and how much tape he had on the knee, and it just seemed to bother him more and more til he went off.

He will be yet another big loss as I think his work in tightening the left goes largely unnoticed.

Reyno really wound back the clock on last night's clinic. It is a joy to watch a 7 just go out there and work like that. Big love for the skip.

Such a good win.

I’d like to say that after trying to navigate that horrendous website that our mods do a 100000% bang up job. Just the one thread for pre, live and post game chat is utterly stupid!

That’s why we win; not only is our team organised but so are we! 😁
After trying to find anything on that pile of shit I see why opp fans flock here.

Last night was the first game in ages that I wasn’t shitting bricks every time the bomb went up. Our backs all seemed safe as houses for a change.

Shiba looked like he has begun to fins some form at long last. Critter stood him up a few times in the origin but last night he was snuffed out of the game by Shiba’s defence.

Big XMAN was the glue that held that pack together last night. What a shift by the big beautiful bastard.

All our ring ins thoroughly deserved a beer last night as it was a champion team effort by a champion team.

What a huge difference our guys went when they didn’t have to do the obligatory 3 or 4 six agains to start the game. That extra gas in the tank even allowed us to cruise comfortably in defence when we went down to having 12 on the field.

Great to see our defensive system being tried and tested and shown to be as robust as they come.

I feel like chicken tonight!!!

Besides us fans, you don’t see Riki getting recognised a lot for his hard work that he’s been putting in this season. I was happy to see Fox Sports recognise him last night and talked about how consistent and strong his stats have been. Anasta said he’s been the most consistent player in NRL this season. Who would’ve thought that he would be become one of the strongest leaders in our team. He’s really stepped up this year. That headgear can never come off!

I said a few weeks back if we get 1 win out of the 2 vs tigers and dogs we would consider that a win.... or we get the 2! 🤣

Willison was massive yet again, hopefully he keeps that form up when troops get back.

I think a real difference in the last few week's is how the back 4 are eating meters it makes such a difference.

Patty back next week Willison back to prop with Talty?
I like Talty’s speed off the bench. Start with Gos.

I will say on Dogs front, Galvin cops a lot of flack. He's been hyped galore, that Gus shit hasn't helped him. But he gets no help from his spine.

Burton looked completely disinterested, didn't seem to even want the ball at times, wasn't getting annoyed when he didn't get it, and his one weapon was holstered in a game vs a ressie FB in the wet.

They've then got Hayward who theyve tried to turn into a 9 to get rid of Mahoney, have realised that isn't the answer so are starting Turpin at hooker in 2026. Hayward has always looked a better 13/link forward type.

Tracey, like Burton, barely moving around offering support or links, never felt at all like we were a danger of being pulled apart by a Tracey run or pass.

Galvin cops all the heat because he is the one having to try literally everything.

Don't know if you could see it on tv but for kick offs he was starting on the fence he was well outside the field of play and literally pushing off the fence past the dead ball line.

I thought mate you'll be exhausted by the time you get the ball. He was adding 20m to his run.

Coster and Burt have been fantastic for him. I think he can have a great second half of the season and play finals in a really good team surrounded by premiership winners who know their craft.
Things you love to hear!

I have no idea what's going on at Canterbury but it looks like Gus and Ciraldo are butting heads.

Gus has an ego, we all know that. He knows who he thinks should be at the club and what position they should be in, Ciraldo has to try and make it work. It hasn't worked. They were airborne until Galvin arrived.

Dogs attack was putrid, nothing wrong with their getting down there, they have great forward momentum and make ground but 20m out and good ball and it all goes to jelly. They threw everything into the first 15 minutes and came up with nothing, and the Broncos got great confidence from that.

An extra 12m a set and they came away with two tries?

They look like a team that has gone we are hardworking and honest, but forgot you still need 24 points to win games. You can't be a great band with four drummers; someone has to be the sexy front man. They will keep coming 5th and losing finals until they fix attack because the Walsh's of the world will score.

Broncos worked short sides, threw inside balls and just kicked well.

For Ezra`s try .
Crichton at marker Ezra calls it . The winger is infield . Cut out to Kara and then Ezra performs a miracle to score in the corner .
That`s a great #6 right there .

@broncsgoat how is he going now ?

It was the Bulldogs crying last night .

Felt the same. Every time he'd take a run I'd think "ah he is ****ed" - then he'd take another run and I'd think the same. Couldn't believe how long he stayed on.

Ezra could score 3, lay on another 2, it wouldn't matter.

He doesn't like Ezra and it has nothing to do with footy, he can make it sound like it's footy related, it's not.

Yep he took a few strong kick off returns and found his front each time

Post contact metres from the kick off !
That was a very good sign . I also took note of his work in defence . He closed the hole on the inside behind the PTB more than once which showed me awareness and determination .
Patty , him and Willison are going to make a very strong combination .
Bye BTK .....

Hes among our most important i think. I know that sounds crazy but hear me out. He fixed up our left edge defence, and he has those great half break runs with his hard hitting run at speed with late footwork. Finds his front and gets a quick ptb.

We just have no one who can replace him at all.

Preston riki might have earnt the edge spot tonight (p riki is a better middle then gos and junt but i prefer gos in the middle for 15-20 mins rather then an edge for 60+ by a lomg way, and i prefer j hunt with zero minutes.)
I wouldn't say he fixed up our left edge defence, he made 8 tackles and one ineffective tackle in 47 minutes(hardly being tested) compared to Jordan Riki's 39 on the left hand side and Preston Riki's 21 tackles in less then half the time. His running I do agree with though. I would prefer he was available don't get me wrong.

My point wasn't that he isn't valuable it's that Madge has the squad believing that when someone isn't available when we call upon someone else to do the job the boys get behind them and they gain confidence from that and can do the job. Not to give up on them. Madge has given this side something it hasn't had in a longtime. Resolve, belief and a work for each other attitude. I can't even remember the last time we were this mentally strong.

Out of the tiny sample size, I reckon Semu looks like a better fit for the modern game than Te Kura. Ran hard, some good lateral movement
Definitely looks leaner than he did last year and to me he looked similar to Palasia, but runs far harder.

Would need to see a bit more of his defence to see how good he was laterally.

Good signs for him though... hopefully he has a good motor, because that's the big thing that's needed in today's game
