POST GAME [Round 8, 2026] - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Crazy that the difference between an early plea and guilty at the judicary is 2 games for Burton's charge. Makes no sense that he gets fined $2,500 if he accepts an early plea but would be out 2 games otherwise.

It's by the book. Grade 1 Dangerous Throw, second offence.

Yeah, I understand it's not going to be some rogue official making it up but it's still a weird disparity to me.

Well, he was given credit for our defence last year so he should get wraps for that.
The defence last year finished 7th for points against... I think it was mentioned that it was the worst ranked defence to win the comp since like Tigers in 2005.

Feel like the shit showing to start this year was the tipping point for Madge who's probably like... "the defence is shit and this **** wants me to release him for origin.. how about you spend more time fixing the ****ing mess at home first"

There's logic there from a coercive standpoint if you think about it.

Grade 1 offences are a bit "shit happens." You're going to get one in season. Two and you didn't learn from it. Three, and you have a problem or the game has a problem with you.

If you get done twice in a year, you can opt to get hit in the wallet, but you know if you get done again you'll be sitting out for an extended period. You need to change something.

Suplexing someone onto their head isn't "shit happens" though.

Cowboys hooker Reed Mahoney (Contrary Conduct), Sharks back-rower Billy Burns (Dangerous Contact), Broncos five-eighth Ezra Mam (Tripping) and Bulldogs duo Matt Burton (Dangerous Throw) and Stephen Crichton (Tripping) are all facing fines.

I'm sorry, what? When did Ezra trip someone last night? I must have missed that...
He was tripping balls.

When I first saw Burton's tackle, I immediately thought that was at least two weeks without even looking at the replay. It was pretty ****ing bad in slo mo. I'm surprised Staggs just got and walked away.

Nothing suss...
