All the media mediums today are saying how Inglis recaptured his mojo against us last night and that he out played Boyd? Wtf did I watch the wrong game?

Souths have a habit of over-stating injuries in order to influence judiciaries.

Gus Gould mentioned during commentary, without having a go at Reed, that the amount of ball Jack got, and didn't produce anything for himself or Oates, had that been Roberts he would of scored at least three tries with that much space and possession, and I've got to agree.

I think our attack needs to stop using the left side exclusively as our point of offence, especially in the opposition 20. Its almost as if thats the only thing we set up for in the oppositions half in attack. As the season goes on, teams will be very much aware of what we're throwing and will shut it down quite easily. You do something too much, and it becomes predictable. The positive is that the left edge is something we can fall back on to get results if everything else goes to hell.

I think the best way to utilise our right edge and give them enough space is if we use the left side attack earlier on in the set to create the space on the right. If we can make a break down the left, this will drag the opposition defenders to that side of the field and we can then swing it back from left to right giving Hunt, Gillett, Roberts and Kahu ample space to work in.
Totally agree, I think the reason the left edge is used is because both Milf & Boyd are strong right-left with ball in hand, and with Oates finishing game the chance of scoring are high. Problem is if Milf doesn't create the extra man, the ball ends up in Reeds hands and he suffocates the play. Reed is playing real lazy football, he has poor work effort, and relies heavily on being put through the defensive line rather than creating the opportunity himself. Unfortunately the right hand attack is only used ad-lib, tries down this side tend to be more from broken play and the individual brilliance of Roberts, Milf or Hunt. If they could spread the ball more and create the overlap, Roberts would have 10-15 tries this year already. Just my opinion. Reed needs some Q cup time.

Did Roberts make it in time for the birth of his kid?

"That's just footy."

There was plenty of controversy in Friday night's match between the Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney Rabbitohs, but Josh McGuire was quick to pour cold water on suggestions of ill feeling between the two clubs.

Brisbane may have won the match 30-8, but it was a number of fiery encounters between the two sides that stole the show.

Rabbitohs enforcer Sam Burgess was warned twice for unnecessary conduct, with the second occurrence involving a hit on a defenceless Joe Ofahengaue that sparked an all-in fracas.

Not long after, Brisbane forwards Joe Ofahengaue and Adam Blair both ended up on report, with Blair's late shot on Souths halfback Adam Reynolds resulting in a suspected broken jaw for the 25-year-old.

McGuire said the incidents were just an example of the amount of passion both teams players have when they put on their respective jerseys.

"It was a physical game where both forward packs wanted to push forward and get their hold on the game," McGuire said.

"It was all played in good spirit. At the end of the day it's just football.

"There's a lot of testosterone going around out there, it's part and parcel of the game. It's in the spare of the moment. I enjoy it and it was a good game.

"It was physical and that's the type of game I like to play. If you're playing in the middle you come to expect that because it's just part of the game."

Burgess's hit on Ofahengaue has divided opinion, with some saying it was a fair shot and others saying it was against the spirit of the game.

Ofahengaue dived on a loose ball and had not been touched before Burgess came in with a swinging arm that collected the 20-year-old in the ribs.

Referee Jared Maxwell penalised Burgess for unnecessary contact, but the 27-year-old lock forward argued that he had done nothing wrong.

McGuire didn't have a problem with Burgess's actions, instead suggesting that the England international was just trying to inspire his team.

"Burgess is the leader in their team. He had great line speed and I thought he played very well tonight," he said.

"Sam's a very tough competitor, but we face off against great forwards every week, every team has at least one and this week was no different.

"The Rabbitohs were just unlucky. We had a lot of opportunities to score points and our backs really took their chances when we needed them to."

Yeah, this is the same guy who lost his entire leg when graham dived at his kick last year.

I mean at least he got better the day after the judiciary hearing, so that's pretty great.

He beat a centre who looks to be playing limp in defence one on one, could be a similar scenario come Origin time :tongue_smilie:

Wasn't he out for like 4 or 5 weeks after that?

Well Boyd definitely plays a team game. He creates for the others around him at the expense of doing something brilliant for himself, whereas Inglis is just a different type of player who can create something out of nothing, but mostly for himself. That's not to say Inglis was better than Boyd on Friday night. I feel Boyd made greater contributions to the result of the match than what Inglis did, without ever doing anything exceptional.

This probably gives the impression that Inglis had a better game, since he was the only one in the South's team who looked likely to do anything, whereas a lot of Boyd's work goes unnoticed. The fact that he was probably South's best, whilst still being average, makes people think he has regained his mojo.

Inglis is too heavily relied upon by South's, and I feel that is unfair on him. It's almost as if South's don't win unless Inglis does everything by himself by coming up with a special piece of play that only he can do.

Inglis was definitely better than he has been in recent weeks, but he is still not quite at his best, which I think is a combination of the way Souths are playing, especially their forwards, his knees, and fatigue. He just looks unhappy, which as a rugby league fan saddens me.

I like how after Milford was tripped by Carter, in the following set he came in and put a good solid hit on Carter and put him on his ass. Then gave him a bit of a head rub.

He has a bit of mongrel in him.

Its not like Reed hasnt broken the line himself but most people know what he is going to do including the opposition. In our own half he is nearly always going to run himself even if Oates is unmarked. He also tends to run toward the wing drawing the defence over.

besides Reed is so slow, the the opposition can make a coffee before beginning to chase him :takdir:
