I've watched a replay and Billy Walters needs to sort out his ball movement from dummyhalf. He's passes so slow and often passes the ball above the head of the player running onto the ball.

I am 100% not writing this year off but this year will certainly set us up for a hell of a year next year I believe.

We have players coming off contract but not until the end of next year. The injuries will allow us to be confident in our entire squad. 1 more year of development into te kura and willison. I also think mozer and te kura will get into the side, with them rightfully biding their time due to the current players earning their spots last year. We don't improve then their places are free game again.

Add to this Reynolds, and probably oates' last seasons. No Vegas. Not favourites anymore. I honestly think we will walk it in for 2025.

Why can’t we win both?
Not writing it off after 1 bad game for sure. The worry I've got for this year though is the ability to make the top 4. We've lost 4 games already, it means we have to win 12/15 games left. 9 or 10 of which (factoring in byes) we will be without Reynolds. We also play storm and Penrith again. Not impossible but it is getting harder and harder with these injuries, we don't have a redcliffe or sharks draw.

The Rabbits game woke us up last year, I think this game might do the same for us this year.

I think it will as well. But if we chalk up Penrith and Melbourne as a loss each, then we are on 6 losses for the year, then we have to win 12/13 to be guaranteed a top 4 spot. I've got faith in the team but we are getting into golden run territory, without Reynolds....

i think the way other teams have dropped points this year that the competition will be even closer this year. So maybe only 10 or 11 will still see us in the 4.

we just need to get through some games without injury disruptions. It’s crazy how battered we’re getting.
It's hard to get a gauge on what we are as a team this year.

When we get an injury mid game we've lost... When we dont get an injury we've won.

We've played poorly in some of those games, but we've still won them, and some of those wins came when Reynolds, Haas, etc. were injured.

There's been zero consistency with lineups in games let alone across weeks.

Our defence has held up in the wins... only to concede late points when the game was over.

In the losses we've had makeshift edges with forwards playing out of position.

The attack has been erratic, but still ends up piling points.

I just want to see a few weeks in a row without disruptions to see if the system holds up. When we havent had injuries the system has seemingly held up... like it did last year

This season is throwing everything at us and I'm not looking for silver linings but there's been so much talk in the press about us losing this "young gun" and that "future star" etc etc .. that now it's time for those young guys to stand up and be counted ... keep the "baby bronco" legend shining. It can only lead to good things. If they choose to do a "Coates" and walk for the money then they didn't belong here in the first place ... but if they stay and play their guts out ... legends.

Everyone is copping injuries and that coupled with an uneven draw is making this a season where you could potentially see a premier come outside the top four. The ladder is not reflective of the actual teams’ quality.

There's a reason it has never been done. It's practically 4 weeks of grand finals with you not knowing where you're going until the end of the games for 1 of the weeks, with another week you're coming up againsta top 4 side with a 2 week build in and rest.

That`s Waynes way .
We are doin it Kevvie style . They didn`t bring Lee Briers in as attack coach to play Bennet ball .

What’s more important? Highlight reels or premierships?

Penrith put a lot of emphasis on getting the fundamentals right, they have made 4 straight GF’s and have won 3 straight. We have none.

The benchmark teams in the modern era all had one thing in common, they got the fundamentals right.

You know we can do both? We can put more emphasis on getting them right and when the opposition starts to crack, that’s when we pull the trigger and put them to the sword.

We’ll be a better team if we put more emphasis on that instead of highlight reel footy. We’ll be the next benchmark team. What happened the other night doesn’t happen.

We need to find the balance between doing the basics well and also playing the football that everyone wants to watch and play. We’ve gotta earn the right to make those big plays and I think this year we haven’t been earning the right.

Our team is young and will learn what is required .

We had the balance right at the back end of last year and into the finals. Smash the shit out of teams up the middle in the first half before taking advantage of the growing gaps out wide.

Why we have gone away from that this year is baffling. We play far too laterally this year and I just don't understand it. Immensely frustrating.
