Strike me pink! Did Oates not say, and I mean he was quoted as saying that Pies put him on the spot and asked him what position he wanted to play and Oates said he wanted to be a winger.

So last week he gets dropped, comes back in and is subbed on to replace TPJ in the second row. This week Pies provides demonstrable proof that he is so out of touch with his players by selecting Oates in the starting team IN THE SECOND ROW!

This has become laughable.

if you read the article that Oates is quoted it shows he's a pretty selfish sort of a bloke. I took it as I'd prefer wing because I'm not interested in fighting with Fifita, Glenn & TPJ for a starting spot. I also think his best game this year was against Manly when he started in the 2nd row so I'm all for it. I'd prefer TPJ in the middle helping out Haas & Carrigan with the go forward which we've been lacking.

Oates was absolutely awful when he came on against the warriors. That right edge defence might actually play the bulldogs attack back into form.

And as for the training ‘mind games’ having players do opposed drills with multiple different lineups— what the ****??? So we’re a team already completely lost at trying to work to a game plan and have zero cohesion with each other. What do we do? **** around with the teams at training a million times purely to mess with the media??

This is Garth Brennan level stuff.

Our forward pack should have been:

8. TPJ (moves to edge when Te’o comes off)
9. Luke
10. Haas
11. Glenn
12. Te’o (plays first 20 then TPJ moves to edge to replace him, Flagler comes on into front row. Te’o Replaces Carrigan later in game if he needs a rest)
13 Carrigan
14. Paix if fit, Dearden otherwise
15. Flegler
16. Kennedy (replaces Haas at 30th minute, Haas comes back on at 50th minute and plays out game)
17. Bullemor (comes on in middle or second row depending on the game and players’ energy levels)


Is that not a much better balance??

We got lucky against the Warriors that Niko went off early and RTS wasn't involved. We would have lost by plenty if those two played.

Foran is in a different class and the Dogs have a better pack. Even though they're without Hoppa I feel we're getting destroyed here.

Out of interest, here is an interesting story about Farnworth, and his views on Boyd. Farnworth alleges Boyd is held in high regard by the team. Maybe that is part of the reason Seibold is reluctant to punt him?
