Scandal That'll Rock Rugby League *updated*

How EFFING dodgy is Tony Zappia, if these rumours are true about that donated money he got sent to his home address disappearing are true.

Of course, who would send money to someone's home address, wouldn't you be asking some serious questions about why he requested to send it there, and ask for some kind of proof of where the money was being spent?

True. If he has ripped off a terminally ill Sharks supporter, well **** I hope he does time.

To ring the donator back straight away and request the money be sent to his home address, and then proceed to send emails on his personal address because his "secretary has access" to his work email address and that they need to keep it confidential is quite clearly pre-meditated as well as opportunistic! [icon_thumbs_do AND The fact that this was someone who was dying (and only a young person too) and wanted to help out his beloved footy club, is beyond Low.

Are we hearing the entire story, it reads like there are major pieces of the story missing.

He is revolting! Poor woman, imagine having him ask you to spank him. Gah!

There are more holes in her story than what is in swiss cheese.

Update

THIS is Cronulla's would-be saviour - a $30,000 benefactor whose dying wish has turned into another nightmare for the strife-torn Sharks and their former CEO Tony Zappia.
The Daily Telegraph yesterday found Clint Elford at home in Goulburn, trying to lie low as more controversy descended upon his beloved Sharks.

Zappia yesterday produced bank statements and balance sheets to prove there had been no sinister dealings. The Daily Telegraph saw copies of the four $5000 cheques made out to the foundation, originally banked with NAB.

Of that $20,000, half was then invested in a high-yield savings account.

The foundation's balance sheet shows all monies were accounted for - apart from bank fees and charges - at the end of last month.

And now the media will stop reporting this I guess.

I don't believe it one bit. The kid did not want ANY publicity whatsoever. It was supposed to be done in the strictest of confidence. The condition was that the kid would give the money provided that his face wasn't in the papers the next day, basically.

Not sure how people wouldn't find out if it got sent to the club.
Mmm True, and now the wonderful Daily Telegraph have named him. [icon_thumbs_do

Apparently that same guy wanted to donate 1.5mill of his life savings (life insurance or what not) when he dies to the club. WOW, now that's gotta be some serious shark fan lover. Gotta feel for him wanting to privately help the club he loves only for the telecrap to not only name him but get photos too!

And that could be why Zappia didn't tell the board of the $30,000.

Exactly and Zappia has proven he didn't do anything wrong and dealt with the person exactly as he wished.

Bet the donor is kicking himself for running to the media.

Police swoop on home of Sharks benefactor

Today, eight police officers visited Mr Elford's Goulburn home to charge him with numerous counts of deception relating to fraud and dealing with proceeds of crime.

The Herald understands that the 27-year-old is known to police.

It is also understood that Mr Elford was in Sydney when police arrived at his home.

Police were seen to remove Sharks memorabilia from Mr Elford's home.

Wonder if Channel 7 will say Zappia knew he was a con man.

POLICE are about to arrest Clint Elford, Cronulla's would-be benefactor, on suspicion of obtaining money through deception.

The 27-year-old is set to be taken into custody in Sydney, where he was understood to be meeting with Channel Seven.

Detectives hold grave fears that Mr Elford obtained the $30,000 he passed onto Cronulla through forged documents used to claim health insurance.

Armed with a search warrant, Goulburn detectives visited Mr Elford’s home this afternoon. But the 27-year-old – who claims to be suffering from terminal neurological disease Shy Dragers Syndrome – had fled to Sydney.

There are now deep suspicions he is not terminally ill, but instead forged doctors signatures to obtain health insurance earlier this year.

Mr Elford used that money to donate $30,000 to Cronulla, via the Beyond Sharks Foundation. He dealt directly with former CEO Tony Zappia, who did not inform his board of the foundation or $30,000 donations.

Mr Elford also made Mr Zappia the sole executor of his estate, claiming it was worth $13.8 million in life insurance benefits.

Snap.

WTF? Why would you forge doctors signatures etc to get health insurance and then give it to a football club?

There's not a face palm picture on the internet worthy of this idiocy.

When I said there were holes in the story, I didn't expect grand canyon size.
