Scott Prince Announces Retirement

As I said on Twitter. I'll never forget the sound of Prince's leg breaking right in front of me at ANZ Stadium in 2001. It was one of the most sickening things I've seen and heard.

Despite some unhappy years the next couple of years at the Broncos, the premiership success in 2005 and Origin series victory in 2008, and crucial role in played in the Titans establishment up to their peak in 2010 is thoroughly deserved.

It's fitting he'll leave us with his 300th game in the final round.

But agree with Nashy, that's a BS "major announcement"... what is interesting is the top 3 halves at the start of the season, Wallace, Norman, Prince, are all gone!

so is he going to play Q-cup next year and get his $300k or whatever hes on per year? or is he completely hanging up the boots? their wording leaves it pretty ambiguous, just saying "his retirement from the NRL".

seems fishy to me. why wouldnt he just warm the bench in Q-Cup for next year and get a few hundred grand for free?

Good on him though, he had a great career. won a premiership, played origin, played some really great footy for a decent amount of years. despite some on heres opinion of his second broncos stint, i thought he was by far our best half since we signed him. what he lacks in defence he made up for with actual attacking and organising skills.

also, this has got to confirm that we've got a half signed. if we dont, who is our 5/8th next year? lol. stagg?

The mail is that we've got Hunt at halfback for next year but will be signing DCE for 2015.

I was critical of Prince early on this season, even called for him to be dumped to reserve grade, but I have to say his really impressed me of late and made me eat my words and I'm glad he has, his not been amazing but he certainly has been putting in particularly with his goal-kicking which of late has been the best we have had in ages and his been running the ball more, its a shame his age and the the injuries his suffered over the years are holding him back, would have liked to see Prince at his peak injury free at the Broncos instead of the mess of injuries he endured, just glad he got to win a premiership with the Tigers.

I'm getting worried that Hook might play Hoffy at 5/8 when Barba arrives.

Shame about Princey. A bit of a forgettable end to a long career. Things went a bit differently this year, he could have been the wise and calm influence in the big dance for us.

His goal kicking alone has kept us in a few games this year.

Probably a sign of:

1. Broncos raising the white flag on 2013 (hopefully not)
2. A major signing (hopefully).

If no Barba or Milford next year, halves would be pretty vacant.

lol wonder if norman wishes he didnt leave now. the two guys standing in his way are gone and he played his best 6 when hunt was 7

Perhaps Prince has 'officially' retired from next year which frees his money up in the salary cap but the Broncos are keeping him on in 'another capacity' and paying a 'wage' for errrrrmmmmm...........cleaning the toilets or watering the grass........or something.
