It is actually quite classy the way that the much maligned Seibold has handled this. Once again he is supporting his player and he is giving Boyd every opportunity to prove that he has a place in the squad.

I dunno about the diet part. He got a bunch of boys on a vegan diet because he watched some biased meme of a documentary on Netflix. Hes free to show them how to score tries at training if he wants but he can keep his diet advice to himself.

I think it was the form of the team. I think the failure of the team played with his head and he tried too hard at times.
Everyone knows that sport is a fickle mistress and trying too hard can be as bad as not trying at all.
There were games where he would rush in at a million miles an hour to tackle or over think his catches on the ball. There were comparatively easy skills he would stuff up when the team was down.
Those 3 on 2 sweeps on the other hand were damn hard yet he could do them in his sleep. He didnt have to think doing them and the team was on the up. Add the problems or injury and his was a sad spiral. When you think of his best games there were against teams the broncos weren't expected to win whilst his worst was when the team was flat.
I don't know if he will make the side round 1 or if he does he will capture his glory days, but I'm confident he can be a lot better player than last year.

I think he lost confidence when Bennett kept picking him in 2018 despite him obviously being injured. He tried to keep going but ended up with a bad case of the yips like a golfer. That’s why I thought he would get back to near his best in 2019 but it didn’t happen.
Despite how angry I was at the end of last season I have to admit now I have calmed down that it’s possible that Seibold can fix him. I doubt it though and I wouldn’t want to inhibit the development of Herbie or Coates to keep flogging a dead horse.

Positive response to something which would have been pretty shattering. Props to Boyd, that's a difficult thing to do...hopefully it translates to performances on the field as well.

I wonder if it is just a case of to much pressure on Boyd cause he hasn’t been the same player since he took over being captain may be he just wasn’t mentally strong enough to deal with the pressure and this might be what he needs to get back to we’re he needs to be

I think he gave captaincy his all. I have no doubt about that, just i have no doubt he tried as hard as could at fullback.
It wasn't like some people allude to, a lack of effort. It was a self-profilling prophecy of doom with the team's failures being taken on as his own, which fed to poor personal form, which weakened the team.
I've kept saying this whole team needs some sports psychology to overcome some personal demons affecting their performance. There is no coincidence that our best performing players are also our youngest. They have no chips knocked off their shoulders and the only way for them is up in their careers (in their heads).
But when staggs or fiffita have a major injury that affects their form they will be expected to do the same as the senior players and pick themselves up. This is harder. Just ask Offa or TPJ or Mago. Of course we have Lodge who has gone through hell and back (self-inflicted of course) who can use that experience to overcome adversity. But he is just one player with one particular personality. Teams are filled with plenty of them.
