Shane Hayne calls it quits

Good luck to him, won't miss him at all.

Seemed to always have it in for Queensland teams, although that's probably just my biases.

Having said that I can't name anyone better, which is a shame.

Yeah fair enough......Hayne certainly wasn't the worst.

That said, he was still a shit ****.

Good riddance !!!

'Shit ****' - a grossly underused term in the BHQ vernacular.

I think Fourex has nailed it.

Does anyone actually have any favourite referees?

Most thankless job in the game and has been since day one.

Steve Clark, Bill Harrigan.

Mainly because Broncos had a good win percentage with those two..

67% with Clark, 66% with Harrigan..

Unfortunately, those two are gone from on field duties so I guess I don't have a favourite ref anymore. Although, we have a pretty good win record with most NRL refs so I don't despise them. I've just never rated Hayne.

I liked Bill Harrigan but apart from him not really. If I had to give you the name of every Rugby referee in either code that I have something against you would be listening to me forever.

Agreed. With referees, I think you have to take the good with the bad. For example, a lot of Maroons fans criticise Hayne for his performance in Origin this year. I remember way back in Game 2 of 2007 Hayne penalised Luke Bailey I think for interfering with the marker. It's normally the defensive team that cops it in that situation. It led to Steve Bell's try. Queensland broke the Telstra Stadium hoodoo and we wrapped up the series.

I had a lot of respect for Shayne Hayne that night. I thought it was a massive call as it is very rare that teams are penalised while in possession.

He also missed the forward pass that lead to Bell's try. It was that and Hayne's brain explosion in game 1 that decided that series. If it wasn't for those 2 incidents the Blues would've won that series.

Get your hand off of it.

Blues were basically gifted a 12 point turn around in Game I and the Maroons had the Blues on the ropes. If it wasn't Hayne, it would have been somebody else making a mistake to seal victory.

Queensland earned that series fair and square.

Captain Hook - Funny thing about that call against Bailey is that Hayne seemingly went out of his way not to penalise anything all game, yet makes a huge call (100% right) to penalise the Blues in possession.

Also made a good call late in the game on Lyon's strip. Thought for sure it was 2-1, but replays showed otherwise.

But you'll rarely see anybody keep track of stuff like that because it isn't really important.

Didn't Paul Simpkins referee Game 1? Let's ignore the fact your team blew an 18-6 lead, suffice to say you lot sooked it and got him replaced with Hayne.

I think he was referring to Jarryd Hayne.

That was a great brain explosion.
