Time for the NRL to be involved in every single step of the player contracting and registration process.

There is zero reason why the NRL can't fire back and say "This contract will put you above the cap, it will not be registered".

Either that, or the NRL simply don't give a ****, and only crack down when they need to boost their bank account with a fine from a club.

Or just get rid of the salary cap, no successful team is abiding by it anyway
I have been saying for years the salary cap is bs.
The same teams manipulate it and win/gf nearly every year... The difference if there wasn't a salary cap would be at least the popular teams would be on top instead of the teams with little to no fans if they were losing. It rewards poaching and punishes teams that develop players as well.

It's an attrocious concept that was brought in to save teams that couldn't save themselves (why are they in the nrl then anyway?!) and somehow turned into some vehicle for small Sydney clubs to scream how unfair it is that big/popular clubs are ran well and are successful.. Piss it off and let the strong survive. This game has got it backwards...

How in the **** are the Roosters not over and still in every conversation for more players. Staggered salaries my ass. The cap is a joke and the only reason it is there was to hurt teams like ours.

do we need a draft then like AFL..???....otherwise we go back to the future pre Super league war..with clubs ultimately backed by their leagues club...

This is the problem isn't it! These clubs sucked at managing in the first place and so got themselves into financial trouble (yes pokies, bla bla bla but what big buisness puts all its eggs into one very specific basket?). So the NRL thinks, hey you know what, let's get these same people to run a salary cap because what could possibly go wrong with having already incompetent people running something like that?

Salary cap is a joke, teams with a bigger fan base with more expensive tickets are stuck with the same product as a team that is broke 24/7. Then that broke team will just spend more and more until nrl comes bailing them out...

Thing is a big club like the Broncos can have other advantages like better facilities, the top class support staff in recruitment, scouting and development, but for some reason we don't.

We should be able to buy the best of of the other Libs but it seems we let them all sit happily at the Storm.

They can be backed by whatever they want. It needs to be a free market, where the NRL aren't scared to let the useless run clubs die. Can't afford to be in the league, hand your licence back.

I’m going to be shocked when the roosters suddenly turn into the new Bulldogs when Politis isn’t around the club.

Don't they already do the bolded? They have at least for the last year, so they possibly started policing it after Johnson joined, who would be the most recent of those big names. However, that would mean that the Sharks have had zero signings or re-signings since the start of this season, because if they'd tried, by the NRL's own rules the contracts would not have been registered.

The Rooster's tactics are interesting. So we're supposed to believe that they have a tiered system, where they're all ranked in pecking order and are paid accordingly. How does that work when they just happen to "find" the money for a Cronk or Tedesco? Do all the existing players just happily slide 1 or 2 rungs down the pay scale, happily taking less money? I can't see how that would even be allowed. Sounds like more bullshit to pretend that the Roosters aren't just fucking cheats and the public are just supposed to say "sounds legit".

Three solutions here:
1)NRL implements a running cap system. Eg month to month the the cap in terms of salaries paid must not exceed 791k. Min spend 90%, remaining can be rolled over. Contract values are fixed at season start also.
2)ATO and NRL become good mates and validate contracts. If the manager or player doesn't agree/breaks rules, they can go play rugby union.
3)Player contract values are all published.

Niko was the lowest paid in the squad, but tried his guts out and had some serious x-factor.
A better cull of deadwood would have been Macca and Boyd who take up 1.25M of our cap.

Anyway, don't care about Gallen and his teams problems.

1. Knik was nowhere near the lowest paid in our squad
2. He didn't want to play impact bench or dummy half (seems even the warriors have found a better 5/8th after 6 weeks too so he may have no choice)
3. Warriors paid his full wage, who would pay even half of boyd and/or macca's wage?

I get you have an agenda against certain current decision makers but don't flat out lie to suit your needs. All of our squad/list problems were there before he was here.

Completely agree with this.
