Sonny Bill Williams reportedly homesick and lonely in France

Tough times...Sonny Bill Williams is reportedly lonely and homesick in France.

SENIOR Bulldogs officials have reluctantly discussed the possibility of NRL deserter Sonny Bill Williams returning to their club.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal the Bulldogs have heard that Williams is lonely and homesick playing with French rugby union club Toulon.

Bulldogs officials say Williams would have to return "on bended knee" and "under the club's terms and conditions".

It is understood a member of Williams' camp has spoken to a Bulldogs official.

Williams' manager, Khoder Nasser, is travelling to France to check on the welfare of his client.

There are rumours Williams is upset at his treatment by Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal.

One source said: "The guy is a tyrant who is giving Sonny Bill hell."

Williams is out injured at the moment with a leg problem.

Some senior insiders at the Bulldogs would be prepared to accept Williams back - but others are vehemently against his return.

Bulldogs fans would also have to be pacified after Williams' walk-out.

Nasser would be encouraging Williams to remain in France, given that his partner Anthony Mundine paid the Bulldogs $750,000 compensation.

"He would have to try and repair the irreparable," the source said.

The NRL has banned Williams from playing league but the Bulldogs believe, if the situation arose, they could persuade the game's hierarchy to reverse that decision.

"I have heard the rumours and I'm not surprised," Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg said last night. "Sonny Bill made his choice a couple of months ago. The club has moved on since then.

"It's common knowledge he can't play in the NRL with any other club than us prior to 2013."

Bulldogs chairman George Peponis was yesterday aware of talk that Williams may want to return.

Shocked Bulldogs players were furious and unforgiving when Williams walked out in late June.

Publicly, they claimed they were still friends with Williams. Privately, they told of their anger at what their former teammate had done.

Bulldogs skipper Andrew Ryan said Williams would have a lot of wounds to heal if he ever returned to the NRL.

"It would take a lot," Ryan said bluntly at the time.

"He's hurt a lot of us.

"We'll cross that bridge if we ever come to it, but we'll see."

Stay where you are tbh.

Wheres that worlds smallest violin pic haha

Seriously you made ya bed now lie in it. Suffer in ya jocks

Wouldn't that be delicious, Mundine paid the $750k but then $BW does to him/Nasser exactly what he did to the Dogs with their encouragement. Wonder if they will start screaming about loyalty etc then.

Too bad I can't believe that story though.

Me either. But if it's true, I really hope the Bulldogs and NRL have the balls to tell him to **** off. He made his bed. He can lie in it.

Unfortunately I know how weak the Bulldogs are as an organisation, and they will cave in and have him back if he wants to come back. The NRL need to be firm and refuse to register him.

The switch hasn't been the success Williams and his mates Mundine and Khoder Nasser haven't hoped for with Toulon struggling for form, Williams out injured, coach Tana Umaga facing the sack and the Toulon owner forcing Williams to play despite sustaining a broken leg.

I just read that in another article :O at broken leg playing

That link appears to link to the same article that has already been posted.

I know, I quoted something & didn't want to get into trouble if there wasn't a link.

Surely his former mates at the Doggies wouldn't want to be on the same field as him after his gutless actions. Being able to forgive past mistakes is an admirable virtue but even for good men like Andrew Ryan and Hazim El Masri I doubt they could find it possible to welcome him back to the fold.

I hope he comes back.

Imagine how much shit we can put on him for the rest of his career? LOL. Awesome.

Unless we sign him. [icon_razz1

Surprise surprise a guy who actively encourages a player to break a contract and even helps pay for him to do it isn't that great of a person when things aren't going his way. I'm shocked [icon_ee

We don't want Sonny back: Dogs
September 24, 2008

BULLDOGS chief executive Todd Greenberg has shut the door on a return to the NRL club by runaway forward Sonny Bill Williams.

....

"We've heard those rumours as well and it's not surprising at all for us that he's homesick," Greenberg told Sydney radio station 2KY.

"Sometimes he got homesick when he was living back here in Sydney."

Greenberg said speculation the Bulldogs could be interested in bringing Williams back to the club was wide of the mark.

"If you're asking me if we want him back, the answer's no," he said.

"We've had no contact from Sonny Bill or his manager.

"We've moved on and our suggestion is he do exactly the same.

"In my view this chapter's over, it's complete. Sonny made his choices some months ago, the reality of that is now he has to live with those choices."

Williams has been nursing a leg injury and his time on the sidelines has reportedly angered Boudjellal.

"I think there's some reality checks in that, it's welcome to the real world," Greenberg said.

It's all a ploy.. he'll be playing Super 14 soon just to make the All Blacks

I think this could just be the tonic the NRL needs in steaming the player drain to cashed up French Union clubs. Firstly there is no way the NRL should even contemplate allowing him back to the NRL and certainly they should be applying all the pressure they can exert on the English SL to do the same. A strong stance is required here.

Should make most players considering taking up big contracts overseas think twice, because from what I’ve heard many of these clubs are owned by people who only care about results not players. You don’t get to having as much money as these guys from playing nice with others. I also hear that they do not have the same amount of player support that the NRL teams employ and they actually have to pay for most of the services themselves (physio, nutritionists etc..). The best outcome for the NRL would be in fact for SBW to be sacked by his team and be out of a job and with no hope of returning to the NRL this would be enough incentive for most players to stay where they are.

SONNY Bill Williams could be pressured into making an early return from his fractured right fibula - especially after furious Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal called a series of crisis meetings at the weekend.

Despite being only a month into the French Top 14 season, The Daily Telegraph understands the millionaire businessman is growing increasingly frustrated with both the SBW injury and performances of his team.

"Poor old Sonny has no idea what he's in for," says one French source. "Missing three weeks over here, it's like sitting out the year. I know Mourad has already called crisis meetings to talk about injuries, their training methods . . . he's even accused some in his team of playing without soul."

The flamboyant boss has questioned why his players aren't doing opposed training sessions, while All Blacks superstar Jerry Collins copped a blast for training in sneakers.

This latest chapter in the SBW saga comes in contrast to the quiet exit to France made by Mark Gasnier at the weekend.

a week old this but though I'd put it in anyway.

HAH, and he reckons the dogs treated him like cattle.

According to the radio this morning, SBW said that the reports are all rubbish. However the guy is hardly known for his honesty, so who knows.
