Won't be changing much, if anything. Just subject to injuries. It'll take some terrible form for any of those players to drop out of contention. The bolded are certainties IMO.

I'm sure he'll be there, but should Slater still be the fullback for Queensland?

GI is 2/2 in deciders and I must admit, he made a noticeable difference at the back as much as I respect Billy The Kid.

If Slater is still able to do the job, he should be.

Not just because Slater is a good fullback, but also because Inglis is a far better option at centre than Gagai.

We're lacking in the centres a bit, and I would much prefer to keep Gagai on the wing if we're going to continue to use him.

We're still a pretty strong side with Slater at the back and Inglis at centre.

I agree with this.

Slater is still a quality fullback and should keep his spot, but GI at centre helps out with Hodges retirement .... keeping that experience there.

I'm looking forward to seeing MacGuire, Napa and Papalli come into the side (hopefully) to bash the Blues !

Nope. If GI is fit, it's his spot. If Billy wants Maroon, he's got a 2 or 5 on his back. The last couple of years, I really feel like he's been riding off his past form.

Do you Queenslanders ever stress about these kind of things?

You guys have built your team around the best and most consistent players of our time and they have been extremely successful so there isn't really any reasons to make changes to the squad apart from a couple of times.

Yes, I stress about Origin every year, because losing to a team like NSW is one of the biggest embarrassments on the planet.

I'd like to see this but I think Mal will stick with Slater at full fitness.

The rest of the team picks itself. Valentine Holmes would be next in line for a back line spot after Chambers.

Also,

14. Morgan
15. McGuire
16. Papalii
17. Napa

That's one of the best looking benches I've ever seen. I can't wait to see this unleashed.

I wonder what impact Meninga's potential departure may have on selections?

Ever since 2013, there has been talk of blooding the next generation with guys like DCE and McQueen being preferred over Shillington and Harrison respectively. 3 years on and with so many stars closer to retirement, I wonder how many players they'll tap on the shoulder?

Despite his amazing performance in Game III, I suspect Lillyman will be the first casualty. If so, what a way to go out! A lot of people remember Adam Who, but Lillyman was a fringe first grader when he was handed his debut in Game II 2006. To finish off as perhaps the best player in the best victory of all-time is quite an achievement for a player who rarely gets to star.

I hope that with Meninga gone, DCE gets by-passed and Milford and Hunt are given a shot in the Origin Arena over the next couple of years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mal gave him a tap on his shoulder before game 3 and told him this was his last game as a mainstay in the team and to make it count. I don't know that he was the best player on the pitch, but he was certainly a stand out off the bench among our forwards and it was by far his best game in a Maroons jersey.

For NSW next year I would go for something like this

1. Dugan
2. B. Morris
3. Jennings
4. J. Morris
5. Ferguson
6. Moylan
7. A. Reynolds
8. Woods
9. Ennis
10. Tamou
11. Graham
12. Cordner
13. Merrin

14. Fifita
15. Klemmer
16. Sims
17. Frizell
