Yeah you are probably right and given what he said, I think he would probably comfortably qualify for NSW anyway.

I'm English. I dont feel like an Australian, but i feel like a Queenslander.

One of the big things i noticed with a lot of kids, and talking to footballers i know is playing for Queensland is more important than playing for Australia.

Did it happen post Keary?

I know he wanted to play for qld but was allocated to NSW.

I thought I saw the flow chart once and it said something like if you qualify for both states then the player decides who they represent

Keary was the first real test of the new system IIRC. He wanted to play for Qld but the questions placed him in NSW, so he had to play for the grubs.

To qualify for both, you need an equal number of answers for each state. At that point it gets reviewed and the players preference is taken into account. Not sure if that's ever happened.
 
So turns out Taumalolo is not eligible for QLD.

However, Kodi Nikorima is. Kodi off the bench playing that utility with his build and speed could be lethal. That was his best position at the Broncos until he had cracked the shits and demanded to be a halfback.

With the 6 man bench now, I wouldn't mind Billy putting him on there and keeping that option up his sleeve.

Billy will **** with the broncos and just load his bench with them only to not play them.

Apparently NSW are trying to get an exemption for Leota to play for them. He apparently misses qualification by 4 months.

If he gets an exemption, you would imagine it would also allow JT2 and Herbie to be eligible for Qld.

So NSW team asking NSWRL permission ... yeah that doesn't create a conflict of interest or anything.

They'll grant whatever exemption they put forward.

Herbie is closer to 4 years than 4 months ... no way is NSWRL granting any exemptions for Qld

But if they let Herbie in, it appeases the Qld fans right? And he's marketable. I wouldn't be as surprised if it happens as others might be.

Herbie arrived in Australia at like 15 or 16 years old... they just set the criteria at 13 or something... they aren't going to provide an exemption, for Qld!!, when he misses qualification by 2-3 years.
 
What if you are born and played juniors in WA, SA or the NT?...
 
I know it's easy to get angry at this as a QLDer but seriously guys, NSW were soooo far into the ****ing hole in terms of the value of the rivalry that you could almost argue that the NRL had to do something to help them. It's 2026 and the Blues still haven't really recovered from the dynasty.

Our 2nd stringers were beating their prime beef with the engine running on nothing but hopes and dreams. That's a shame that the Blues will never wash away, and I am perfectly satisfied with that.

Then they dont qualify.

I think it basically comes down to were you playing in a QRL or NSWRL competition before your 13th bday?

If not then nope.

There are some other factors like parents played origin, etc. which might also qualify them, but that's likely the intent of the age criteria

So you can come from another country to NSW or QLD and play league at 12 years of age but if they come from another state after 13...nope sorry can't play Origin 😐 ..

Yep... same as if they came from another country and didnt play QRL or NSWRL by 13

Thats when you go play for another country because your mums 4th cousins brother is from there and you want to repay the family heritage. Just make sure they are tier 2 so you can still play for Aus if needed.
