Ben Te'o Breaks Arm Again

A SHATTERED Ben Te'o faces six more weeks on the sidelines after re-fracturing his arm in Brisbane's 34-10 loss to Manly on Friday night.

The Maroons State of Origin hopeful is lamenting his season of heartbreak, with scans yesterday showing Te'o had sustained fresh damage to the right arm he initially injured against Newcastle in round 5.

Yeah a shame and gillet is still out for a month or so. We are lacking some punch and strike power without te'o.

Just can't help but think how good all this MIGHT be in the long run though now that I think about it.

We're gonna have some fresh legs at the conclusion of Origin 3 with players coming back from injury combined with Hook's resting policy. Last year you could tell at the end of the season how much ware and tear was on our team. Maybe that's the main reason behind resting our Origin players, to prevent that from happening again.

The only thing is we just need to make sure we win some games between now and Origin 3 so we aren't playing catch-up ala 2009.

I don't know why everyone keeps commenting on this 'resting policy' that Hook apparently has. You would have to be a complete moron to make Thaiday back up with the injury he is currently carrying, and people need to remember how old Lockyer is, and that this is his final year before he retires, plus he apparently has some small niggles, so why risk him. It's just common sense if you ask me...

Really disappointed to see that happen to Te'o. He was a monster in D before he hurt his arm. Whilst he was out I forgot how much I love him, until he started smashing people left right and centre against Manly. It's a good headache to have, but its a shame that we have so many quality long minute back rowers which means Te'o only gets minimal minutes when we are at full strength. When he was playing 80 minutes, he was a beast. If you know what I mean...

This is not bad luck, this is absolutely poor form by the Broncos medical staff OR Ben Teo. Clearly he came back way top early - he had a thick cast around his arm, clearly he was sill a risk to re injure the arm. He probably needed another 3 weeks. It only took a bit of a bump to re injure it too, didn't seem like much in it.

This 100%.

Well Te'o did get through a QLD cup game without breaking his arm so I guess he must have been ready. The article suggests he felt it go when he tackled Tony Williams.

I thought the same thing too. As soon as I saw him with the huge cast around his arm I thought he came back way too early and it showed when he re-injured it.

You'd think they wouldn't have played him last week if they aimed to bring him back early.

QCup isn't NRL.

The sooner BHQ realise this, the better it will be.

Yes but his arm still could have easily been broken again in the QLD cup. [eusa_doh

No Q Cup isn't NRL, but it is the best preparation for NRL that there is available

Sad but true.

Why is it sad? I don't know how much Q Cup you watch but it is actually a pretty high standard of footy, most games are not that far below NRL standard. The sad things are:

a) The NSW Premier League is no-where near as good as the Q Cup;
b) The powers that be think the U20s Toyota Cup is a better preparation for NRL

I actually heard that's not the case, moreso they want their Toyota Cup teams to be successful. I think at the start of 2009 the Broncos U20's who were on the fringe of first grade started the season in the QCup but then they returned to the Toyota Cup because the Broncos were getting smashed every week and they didn't think it was a good look. That's what I heard anyway.

Yeah I heard the same, but that it was basically the NRL (which is who I meant by "the powers that be" that thought it wasn't a good look and basically put some pressure on the Qld based clubs to have their U20s play the Toyota Cup and not the Q Cup.

Not much. But, that's not to say I don't try to watch it. To say it's near NRL standard, IMO is absolutely ridiculous.

I can turn a lot of sports on, and happily watch them. But deadset, QCup bores me to tears. There are some brilliant young players getting around, but across the board, there are seat fillers doing the rest of the work.

This argument also works for the amount of promising young players that have been talked up on BHQ over the years. Only for them to get into the NRL, and completely, and utterly suck at it.

In regard to the U20's. I think the whole concept is great. But not needed. Q-Cup and the NSW Premier league need to have one body and that should be used to develop future players.

Ah fair enough. That would make sense because I do recall as soon as the U20's comp was announced, Bruno said that our best players under 20 years of age would be playing QCup.

I suppose they think that if all clubs are in the same boat and playing their fringers in the Toyota Cup it's a level playing field so may not be worth kicking up a stink.

Jack Reed? Matt Gillett? David Hala? Josh Hoffman?

I know they are examples that back up your comments but there are also examples that don't, like those mentioned above.
