The big thing we are overlooking

Forgive my ignorance for not knowing who our defence coaches are but they need to step up. We’ve shown glimpses of brilliance in attack (signs of improvement). But any momentum quickly unravels into a shitslide of conceded tries when we fail to defend together and lock up the ball.

The guys have to aim up with solid front on contact together in packs and stay in the wrestle for longer (25 odd minutes is not good enough). Isaako needs to marshall the troops to number up.

Good teams also drop balls and drop off tackles but they show desperation in cover defence, kick chase and one percenters like being there just in case of loose balls and missed tackles.

We are inflicting adversity upon ourselves which is often preventable with some extra toughness and desire. Repel the opposition with several back to back efforts and suddenly confidence returns.

It will take time but the coaches should start building a capable team around defence.

Agree with you however line speed for me is what matters most. The best teams move up fast to suffocate the attack.

Agreed but I watched every game this weekend and some teams live offside with immunity
Yeah it’s disgusting. The answer is us working far harder than we do, but that would take ticker and desire.

Obviously things in short supply at Red Hill.

Maybe it's because the refs are so obsessed with 6 again that they ignore teams whose defensive lines rush the attack, or just couldn't be bothered, unless it's us.

I think we get done for ruck infringements more than we do offside. I would happily wear one or two more six agains in the game if it vastly improved our line speed.

With our ruck infringements, this again comes down to our poor ruck control. Because we are not in a dominant position in the tackle, our efforts to hold down a player so we can get up first is more noticeable /obvious than teams who control the ruck so we get penalised. Subsequently we stop holding down and seem to be leaving at least one of our players on the ground at many tackles.

I think the good teams have just learned if you're 1-2m offside every set, the ref will give up calling 6 agains. Same as giving away a 6 again to slow momentum anytime the opposition has momentum in the first tackle.
