The LOLZcopter kown as NRL

The sooner we remove the salary cap the sooner the deadwood will be gone..

Why can't the Tigers play Leichardt and turn it into a fortress much Brookie or Olympic stadium.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. They're going to be getting 100k per match, be realistic, that's about based on $15 a ticket
that's about an extra 6k of tickets for them per match.

Still, Tigers should be cut from the game.

Yeh its all about money.

They are closing/closed Campbelltown stadium at the moment for renovations. Seems like a bit of a waste of they aren't gonna play many games there.

Great move.

SFS is a rugby league stadium unlike ANZ which should be nuked. The atmosphere will be significantly better and to top it off the Tigers get a financial kick almost on par with the ANZ deal. The West Tigers playing on the Eastern side of Sydney is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. The fans will be happy to travel to watch footy at a ground where they're much closer to the action.

Bravo to the NRL for supporting it. We've got to get more teams out of ANZ.

Yes, but Tigers could be cutting their noses to spite their face. Their main heartland is Campbelltown these days, and I can't imagine many people wanting to travel all the way into Moore Park from there.

I agree teams playing at ANZ Stadium is a joke. Unless you're assured of at least 30000 people there, the stadium is an atmospheric joke. And nothing looks worse on TV than a massive stadium completely empty.

I think the NRL and its sponsors, or councils, should look at providing similar financial incentives to clubs to play at their local suburban grounds, particularly Campbelltown.

Yeah even with signficant upgrades I doubt Leichardt could house enough spectators for Wests to make a profit. They are one of the clubs on the precipice currently so they will take financial windfalls if available. Maybe if they were in a stronger financial position they would consider moving more games to Campbelltown. The club should still look to housing 2-3 games at Leichardt given they are a merged side.

The bigger issue is they are just one of many Sydney teams facing financial problems so one wonders how long they can survive.

Yeah but I think the NRL needs to show some leadership and think about what areas of Sydney need an NRL presence and gateway. Western suburbs of Sydney is a hugely growing area and so there must be a good presence there. Are Canterbury and Parramatta enough if Wests Tigers go? Not really, they'd have to extend their catchment all the way down to Campbelltown.

The Balmain area's probably dead and buried for family growth.
Easts and Souths are probably similar, very little opportunity for population growth really.

St George-Illawarra and Cronulla compete for the south-east of the city, as well as Canterbury to a degree.

Manly have the entire north shore and so must remain regardless.
Penrith has to stay as they are.

If it were up to me, and it's not, the Sydney clubs would be:

Sydney Roosters (inner Sydney, west, south, east and north) - SFS
St George-Illawarra (covering South east all the way to Wollongong) - WIN Stadium and Kogarah for crap games
Penrith - Penrith Stadium
Parramatta (west and north west) - Parramatta Stadium
Canterbury (west and south west, including Campbelltown) - Campbelltown and ANZ Stadium)
Manly (northern beaches) - Brookvale

The others: Wests Tigers, Cronulla, South Sydney...well, relocate or die.
