There is just nothing to enjoy about it right now. Look at some stats:

- Average points per game are WAY up
- Six agains are absolutely influencing games to the point where games have turned into blow out after blow out after blow out
- There are more six agains being blown than ever before
- Injuries seem to be higher than ever before
- Players out of origin are:
Mitchell, Haas, Piakura, Kiraz, Taulagi, Nanai, Dearden, Boyd, Hopgood, Best, Martin, Fifita, Wighton, Tass, Arrow, Papalii, Savage, Nawaqanitawase, Trbojevic, Coates, Bula (if he qualifies), Doueihi, Fainu, Twal

- On top of this, four players are going to be sitting out of next rounds to NOT play origin

Now look at this:

Round 1
- 2 close games, 6 blow outs, 2 teams knocked out with 50 point losses, 2 games under combined 40 points total

Round 2
- 3 close games, 5 blow outs, 4 teams hit 40 points, 2 games under combined 40 points total

Round 3
- 3 close games, 5 blow outs, 6 teams over 30 points scored, 3 games under combined 40 points total

Round 4
- 2 close games, 6 blow outs, 4 teams over 30 points scored, 2 games under combined 40 points total (one by 4 points, the other 2)

Round 5
- 2 close games, 6 blow outs, 2 teams knocked out with 50 point losses, 6 teams over 30 points scored, 2 games under combined 40 points total (one by 2 points, the other by 8)

This is where the dam wall starts to break further

Round 6
- 2 close games, 6 blow outs, 1 team knocked out with 50 point loss, 9 teams over 30 points scored, no games under combined 40 points total

Round 7
- 4 close games, 4 blow outs, 4 teams over 30 points scored, no games under combined 40 points total

Round 8
- 1 close games, 7 blow outs, 1 teams knocked out with 50 point loss, 8 teams over 30 points scored, 1 game under combined 40 points total (by two points)

Round 9
- 2 close games, 6 blow outs, 1 team knocked out with 50 point loss, 5 teams over 30 points scored (two of them in 1 game), 2 games under combined 40 points total (one by 2 points, the other by 6)

Round 10
- 1 close game, 7 blow outs, 8 teams over 30 points scored, 1 game under combined 40 points total (by 4 points)

Round 11 (Magic Round)
- 1 close games, 7 blow outs, 6 teams over 30 points scored, 2 games under combined 40 points total (one by 6 points)

So all year, we've had 11 close games, way higher scores in games, ludicrous penalties, ridiculous bunker calls and so on.

This season, most games are over 20 minutes in and I suspect few if any fans are enjoying this thing and even less new fans are coming in.

The sport has lost its identity. It is not rugby league, too many fundamentals have been changed and it is now some weird hybrid between rugby union, touch, WWE and Disney.

I posted this in another thread .... but this seems to be an appropriate thread for it, so:

Anthony Maroon was reading out a fan email last night that was calling the broadcast out for not addressing the issues fans have with the game. Maroon used the same 'spiel' (record crowds and record ratings) but apparently injuries have not gone up from last year so make of that.

I'd have to dig up a post @1910 made a week or so ago when we were talking about the Broncos injury toll.

Gotta say there is something to this, whatever it takes the 6 again has to go.

Unfortunately this is the one thing that won't happen because its Vlandal's baby. So the best we can hope for is scaling them back but they did that and then this idiot for some reason wanted them back.

It’s not. Unfortunately everyone is hating every game, calls every game one sided but as soon as the Broncos are on the end of it, it’s deserved and everyone’s back on the wagon

I wonder if he'll quietly change the rules / interpreting like happened after the farce that was the 2021 season

Gotta give credit to Munster for coming out and saying the things he did late last week or whenever it was. He no longer recognises the game either.
Hell of an accomplishment that the NSWRL have made a product that its own players don't even want to watch.

I can't really figure out which demographic they're targetting at this point... if players don't want to watch it then who are they expecting to play the game in the future 🤔🤔

although this will never happen but I’d love to see two teams have a gentlemen’s agreement to take the piss out of these rules. Play absolutely no defence and have the final score as 150-140. If a random six again occurs, the attacking team just turns it over by torpedo kicking the ball over the dead ball line.

Nothing will ever change at this point.

Scorer kicks off is $1.01 to be added as a rule for 27'.

All hail the glorious PVL.

I see they announced the 9th game at magic round would be Thursday next year. How magic is a stand alone Perth vs Titans game going to be on a Thursday night 😍

I have been watching every game nearly, or at least half of it. For one reason only. I am caring for an invalid family member. Housebound. Otherwise I would have better things to do.

Origin and tests will be, outside of the odd club game where the ref puts the whistle away, the only quality games of footy this year. The finals series will probably be reffed decently because the media glazes refs who put the whistle away in "big" games, but the make up of the top 8 will be determined by ref/ injury RNG in the regular season. There will be a few sides underserving of a top 4 spot who will have the honour of being thumped by penref (who somehow never cop injuries) in September.

EDIT: can you imagine the six agains going away in September and a side like Manly with Brooks and Wakeham in the spine have to play Penref or the chooks?

They’re targeting the Facebook comment section fans.
