The Real Reason

I agree Jester. They played well, but I don't think we needed them both in the side. They did everything that they are capable of, in particular Stewart, I thought he played really well, but having them both in the side meant one less prop to help Civo out.

Laffranchi, Watmaugh and Stewart are very good attacking 2nd rowers and should've been the first ones chosen...and another couple of Props to help them out. Did Gallen even play the other night? He was AWOL when they needed a few big shots made, he is so meh.

None of you have any idea. Ricky Stuart knows the REAL reason Australia lost - conspiracy!

Lol. Maybe if he had prepared his team for a rugby league match rather than a walk in the park, and maybe if he'd picked more than one prop, he wouldn't have to look for someone else to blame? What an idiot.

i am a full blooded kiwi and live in New Zealand, i love the broncos and really wanted australia to win..
i think that walking up to the haka was awesome and i think all the teams need to stand up to them..
its really sad that the auzzies lost but the kiwis played well. i think that darren lockyer definatley deserved man of the match - he was an outstanding individual which is what man of the match is about.. but i think he was a bad sport when he didnt make a proper speech and understantabley he was upset but he should of been a bit more of a better sport..

ohh and well done to Wayne Bennet he has just proved that hes the best coach in the world! he led teh broncos to 6 grand finals many queensland teams to the final and australia to the final and now the kiwis to the final!! awesome coach and is going to be greatly missed next year..

They had two props (Civo and Kite), and the others were unavailable due to injury.

The "real" reason we got flogged was cause we had too piss easy games against PNG and Figi that were like playing the under 20s against a first grade squad. It was like a sunday picnic and the players just thought the fairy bread would keep rolling in and got a rude shock when it wasn't falling into place....

..... complacency

Ok two props, my mistake. I realise the others were unavailable but the squad was light on for front rowers in the first place, and Ricky would have had plenty to do with the team selection.

The "what an idiot" was not necessarily aimed at that point anyway (nice cropping of my post :P ), it was based on his ridiculous attempt at deflecting any blame aimed towards himself and his players.

it's alright. Hammo's just one of these people who has a few mates who are Kiwis and suddenly is an expert on Maori culture.

I don't know how that makes me an expert on Maori culture nor did I say it did. I'd know as much as you no doubt.

Anyways, my point, which you either missed or simply don't agree with (in which case it would have been easier to say, "I don't agree Hammo") is that whenever something happens during the Haka, bad stuff happens.

I don't think what they did was disrespctful, so much as aggressive. Either way, it backfired bro! Much like Lockyer trying to tackle or Hunt breaking the line, it doesn't happen and shouldn't happen.

The haka is a beat up, the aussies had an off night, if they played that same game again 25 times the kiwis would be lucky to win one. How many games do you see at that level where so many things went wrong for one side and right for the other, we played poorly, they played well, where we were unlucky they were lucky. So while I would have loved to have seen Locky and the boys lift the trophy, the greater game is better for the kiwi win.

But that's just superstition. It's like saying everytime Australia wear blue underpants they lose. It has **** all to do with it. The real reasons Australia lost:

1. New Zealand played well
2. Australia didn't

End of thread.

I kind of feel for the Kangaroos. It would be really difficult to adjust to suddenly not have the Chosen One in your team. As soon as I heard Price was out, I went and dropped some cash on the Kiwis.
However I lost my winning ticket while celebrating our victory at a strip club. That's what I get for trying to profit from Price's demise.

Regarding the Kiwis use of the Haka, it is done as a demonstration of intimadiation one would feel. Why therefore, should the opposition sit back and take it. They should be up in their faces standing their ground and imposing back on the Kiwis. I think laughing is more than acceptable, as are verbal insults and a bit of argy-bargy wouldn't go astray. Why has everyone gone soft over tradition?

Sitting back and "taking it" seems like a bit of a contrived spectacle. If it's done as a "war and intimidation" ritual, then the opposition should react accordingly. Why would anyone simply stand there and be intimidated? If such a ritual were found to actually intimidate the opposition, then the opposition would be on the back foot from the get go. It just doesn't make sense to let a team do this.. and just sit back and watch it. Such a response is pretty dull if truth be told.

And my view on the Haka ranting is; if opposition teams stand and face it, great, that's respectful. If they turn their backs and ignore it, great, it will get our players' blood boiling. If they take the piss, smirk etc, great, they will likely get damaged during the game. There's never a bad outcome to a well-performed Haka!

How do you propose they achieve this? In order to "damage" a team (be it physically or on the scoreboard) you would actually have to train. Which, is a well known fact, that the Kiwis don't. There's no time really, they've always found with hair clippers in their hands. You want to talk about crappy hairstyles Beads, well look no further. You all know what I'm talking about.

I'd say Kidwell damaged big willie pretty good. And Frank Pritchard got Hunt as well. If the kiwis don't like your reaction to the haka, they will let you know.

Kiwi's definitely have a lot more mongrel in them. Sometimes I wish the Aussie forward pack had more mongrel. As good players as they are, a little aggression wouldn't go astray.

I was referring to particularly obnoxious players getting smashed during game play, ie Hunt and Mason etc.
It's pretty cool how the Kiwis won without training though, I agree.
