The Storm are really pissing me off

I think I kind of know where Beads is coming from re the fans.

Seriously if it ever came out that the Broncos did ANYTHING like this - I would be absolutely gutted to know that the club and players I love and support only got their success through such systematic cheating.

Exactly, I just feel for the fans, I still hate the Storm but not as much because of the fans who I feel for.

Yeah Beads, I just had a guy at work say that his son called him and saw on the news that the storm were at the airport to fly out to NZ and they're not going, not playing any more games the rest of the year.

If they forfeit any games, let alone an entire season they will almost certainly be kicked out of the competition and face far more severe penalties.

It's not a joke "forfeiting" a game, it's a very serious matter, there are contractual obligations that the NRL need to fulfil which include the Melbourne storm playing a game to make it 8 games per week and a TV game for fox sports/9.

No chance they will, although being the arrogant ass holes that they are it wouldn't surprise me. Thank god that Rob Moodey dick who was on the footy show last time got sacked, biggest w^nker.

its funny, because by not letting the storm accrue points the NRL has kind of given them a lot of power.

they can, at will, give their opposition 2 competition points when they play them. or they can play to their best, beat them, and give the opposition no points. so come the last few rounds, if theyre playing against a team who has to win to make the finals, Melbourne could theoretically let them win so they make it, or beat them so they lose. if theres a team that needs to win all say 3 of their last games to make the finals, and melbourne are playing them in that time and they dont like that team, whos to say they wont play extra hard just so they dont make it?

or the other way around, and melbourne just lie down so they can make the finals.

it could be interesting.

which creates the world cup last group stage-like scenario (sort of) but the point is - they won't lie down... players these days play to win no matter what the circumstance... would you put your body on the line for victory though? Run that extra bit faster? Chase the kick that extra bit faster? etc etc I doubt it... psychologically near impossible I would say. They will go out to play to win though - you can bank on it.

the team wasnt FORMED on the basis of cheating, the admins cheated to RETAIN the team that they formed legally. The players have nothing to admit to IMO. can you say, with 100% certainty, that Melbourne would not have been the best team over the last few years if they were under the salary cap? can you say with 100% certainty that they wouldnt have Inglis/Smith/Cronk/Slater? i sure cant.

Er, no. If Melbourne hadn't have won those games and the premierships, at least one of the four would have moved on. I agree that if the club fits the players, they stay (a la Broncos 1992-2002), but in this scenario they've had both bits of the pie - a good playing culture but getting underhanded payments to support that culture.

That is the difference between the Storm's "loyalty" and Brisbane's loyalty. One is fake, induced by money. The other, isn't.

AP, you only have to look at the amount of stars we've had to cut from our team in the past 5 years to know that the Storm would not have been able to keep those 4 stars. Even if they had of kept those 4 stars, guys like Lima, Blair, White etc would not have been there and you would have had other up and comers taking their spot.

Just look at most teams over the years and how hard it is to keep so many stars in one team.

If the Storm didn't rort the cap, I don't think the club is dumb enough to say "oh we'll just keep those 4 players and have nuffies around them..." In this day and age, you'd see them palm off 2 out of the 4 to retain the up and coming players.

My bet is they will keep Slater, Smith, Cronk, White and Blair and try and build a team around them. Possible team next year for them may be
1. Slater
2. Dufie
3. Stanley
4. Nielson
5. O'neil
6. Young fella from Katherine (cant remember his name)
7. Cronk
8. White
9. Smith
10. Norrie
11. Blair
12. Proctor
13. Manu

Have no idea what there bench may look like.

That team would be very competative and would be under the cap IMO!!

Canberra and Newcastle are allegedly after his signature, who knows why. Plays good for Melbourne but fails for NSW I think he is the type he will not play well outside of the structure at the Storm.

White has been linked with Canberra

Are Canbarra trying to break the world record for the biggest foward pack or something?? They dont need another prop. They should use the cash to buy a decent halfback if you ask me!!!
