I've always taken it for granted we "cheat" the cap. Other clubs will as well but I don't think about other clubs.

It was pretty obvious our books have been cooked on many occasions, particularly when Kevvie arrived. But that's just the cashflow. There are so many way to launder fringe benefits to players, most not hitting the books in cash: off market real estate, use of a yacht, free resort accommodation, assistant coaching position after retirement, media side-gig, hiring a family member, etc.

One day a player will whistleblow on how it's done. I'm surprised it hasn't already happened. Omerta...

They were stripped of all their titles, forced to play without any incentive and fined millions.

I know some of you wanted every player and official to be banned from the sport and for the club to roll over and die but we live in a reasonable society.

How is that reasonable for other fans? They still celebrate their premierships and nrl sits back and watches. So 1 year punishment? They kept the players they wanted to keep bar Inglis. Meanwhile they built a dynasty FOR 15 YEARS off the back of the very same salary cap cheating.

A "reasonable" punishment should have been they play under the salary cap the same amount for the same amount of years. Eg 2 million dollars less than EVERYBODY ELSE for the 5 YEARS.

Think of it this way, if you said to me we could have kept flegler, farnworth, paliasia, capewell, and any others we are about to lose and then probably an extra 1 million on top of that per year with Ben hunt for 5 YEARS I would be ****ing stoked and more than happy we played for 1 year without points. We could net 2 or 3 premierships with tjat extra amount of cap, just like anyone could. Let's not forget as well that this was when the salary cap was far, far less than what it is now so it'd be worth even more percentage wise now.

Disgusting cheating. Tell a Parramatta fan its a reasonable punishment.

After the historic salary cap cheating, introducing Wrestlemania into the game to its great, GREAT detriment, putting McKinnon in a wheelchair, knocking us out of the finals multiple times with an illegal team, Bellyache chucking an all time stink over being stuck in Bennett's shadow and holding a grudge against the club that even Trump would struggle to rival......

After all of that, yes they can get royally ****ed.

Considering their club also cheated the salary cap, they wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on.

So after they rorted the cap by $4 million in total, they have to play the next five years with a 10 million handicap? That isn't reasonable.

I'll save you the trouble, I'm sure you could draft a suitable punishment that would have been fair but even then with the talent at their disposal Melbourne likely would have still found a way. I'm sorry they didn't just roll over and die.

When they signed their contracts there's was millions extra promised. Are you seriously comparing parras to thr storms cap cheating lol. Let's take parkas spoons off them the year's THEY did it then.every team bends the rules, broncos included, but storms was like playing with 10 under 18s players in an under 12s comp, that was the extent. I can't believe you are even trying to defend it.
 
Also, if you love the storm and are bothered by the spirit of the thread. It's really easy, just don't participate or ignore, and let other fans hate on Melbourne like we're entitled too.

My avatar IS pretty great though mate. Few things funnier than Bellamy cracking the shits in the coaches box. Have been giving strong consideration to swapping out for a Ricky sideline one though, must admit.
