Tigers Punting Potter

Pretty poor if you ask me.. I thought Potter had done a good job.. not only has he got them in a reasonable position on the ladder, he's had to deal with a plethora of injuries to key players, as well as losing Farah & Woods during origin... He's ALSO done this with a rookie Halfback, a past it Five-Eighth, and he's developed the likes of Moses, Austin & Sironen as well..

I think he's actually overachieved this season.. feel for the bloke.

Maybe Potter shouldn't have laughed when Farah said he was as good as Smith.

It's kind of well known that Farah and other senior players have been influencing the club more than they should. Player power was behind Sheens getting punted, now Potter, what do the players want? They need to be out in their place.

Player power is undoubtedly behind this as Potter had been doing a good job. He has possibly the most inexperienced roster and endless injuries yet he has the Tigers in the running for a finals spot and is an underrated coach who I thought could've done well long term.

Wests Tigers to axe Potter: report

The Tigers are sitting 1 win outside the top 4 and getting set to punt the coach. A bit of player power going on apparently particularly from Farah.

how is that any different to what the Broncos did.

although i did  at the line that said that they wanted to do it this weekend in case Potter EMBARRASSED them by MAKING THE FINALS

That's two teams sacking their coaches while the teams still had a shot at the finals... Piss poor form going on in the NRL.

I thought Potter was getting a fair bit out of the Tigers considering their injury list. I tipped them to win the spoon at the start of the year. From what you hear it seems Potter is being sacked because of player disharmony not performance based?

I don't think Potter deserves to get shafted but frankly I don't have an issue with coaches being sacked while the team has a shot at finals.

Having a shot at the finals is a pretty piss poor barometer of anything and given 50% of the teams make it being a chance of being in a group of half is hardly an achievement.

I actually wish people would stop caring so much about where teams are on the ladder as if it matters so much. Only things that count are premierships and our chances this year are 0% and Griffin is a big reason for that. As such, deserves to go, regardless of what stupid ladder position KPI should or shouldn't exist.

And whilst I don't agree Potter should go, if the Tigers feel the same way about Potter, than they should have every right to sack him regardless of what prospects they have of making up the numbers in a big group of teams who make the finals.

anyone hear Gould in todays Tigers vs Dragons match...

he starts of by saying "I'm a pretty good judge of knowing when an NRL coach needs to be replaced" ... then goes through the coaches sacked this year (except Elliott) and the coaches under pressure (i.e. Cartwright and Potter) and doesn't think any of them should have been sacked.

lol

The difference between Potter and Griffin for example, is that performance is not the reason for Potters sacking players are. and in some cases the players who try to get rid of a coach, do so to take the spotlight off their own performances.

Completely disagree.

This type of quick gratification requirement, is not only eroding away the fabric of RL and sport in general, but it's a sad commentary on the shape of today's society as a whole.

News flash!! Success almost invariably does not come instantly. It's something you have to work hard at to achieve.

I don't really know how good he is as a coach, but I wonder if we would have considered him if we didn't sign Bennett? Might have been able to steal some of their future star rookies.

When did I say anything about quick gratification? I said absolutely nothing of the sort.

What I said was that if you know you're current coach isn't the answer then you shouldn't feel obliged to keep him around just because you're in with a chance for the Top 8.
