It's easy to be sceptical of the situation, so the question should be asked, what does Greenberg have to achieve in order to justify his appointment?

A Bulldogs premiership.

The real question is what has he actually achieved so far to get to the top spot?

He's done a fair bit.

He took a club brand, that was really struggling, unable to find a major sponsor, and turned them into a powerhouse club once again, and left them in really good shape, far better than what he started.
The bunker has been a really good innovation to the game.

Before we bag out Greenberg, serious question, who do you think would have made a better CEO?

I'm not a big fan of him, but he has significant experience in both NRL, and sports in general, and has done well in his administration roles previously.

I would have preferred someone entirely independent of the game, but we saw how that worked with Smith, and if we had to choose someone internally, he's a good choice.

My problem with him, is that everything he's done has been built on bullshit and a good media persona.

A lot of people want similar leadership to how the AFL run, which Greenberg will offer. I don't though. I don't want a system that looks pristine on the surface, and works with the media to keep up the front, yet is hypocritical & corrupt behind the scenes. I want the NRL to have genuine integrity, be fair, be unbiased, and most of all, be honest. Greenberg won't do that. On the positive, he'll have Mum's wanting their kids playing football...

Any specific examples? I don't really remember anything off the top of my head.

There were two just with Barba. The first being that he categorically denied there being anything DV-related behind his off-field issues (it later surfaced there the Bulldogs had photographic evidence of just that). The second being that Barba was to be treated properly regardless of how long he would be unavailable for the Dogs, nek minnit they're losing and he's back in the squad.

Another was that he was aware of Ryan Tandy betting on games IIRC.

Nothing stuck of course. Teflon.

It couldn't be any worse. So why not give him a go?

Fair enough, nothing there really worries me.

I'm happy enough to give him benefit of the doubt in his new role and judge him on his results in the next year or two.

I'm one of the ones who want an AFL type regime in charge and if Dogsberg brings it, then that is fine by me. As mentioned, the way the NRL is run can't get any worse, so here's hoping he can make some big improvements. If he sorts out the financial side of the game, gets more people in and has the NRL thriving again, then great. If not, bring someone else in. He is unlikely to make the outside of the game stuff anymore ridiculous or inconsistent than it already is.

I'm not keen on the idea, I'm with Morkel in that I want integrity etc. I don't like the bloke to be honest, I don't trust him at all, he's a slippery greasy so-and-so..

But as most have alluded to - it cant really get much worse, can it. I'm happy enough to give him a go. He won't have as long as I'd be prepared to give an outsider to make some serious changes before I start calling for his head, though.

Would have preferred the likes of Gould tbh. I hope he goes for the head of football job. And I can't believe I just wrote that, but there it is. He's got a real passion for improving the game and while I don't agree with everything he says, most of it does make a lot of sense.

Just my 2c.

Why can't it get much worse? I definitely think it can get much worse.

Should've given the job to Warren Ryan, he'd of sorted them out .
At least we didn't get the obligatory woman

Yeah, the product itself is fantastic. Memberships are at record levels, most teams with a genuine chance any given weekend, and they seem to be heading in the right direction with the interchange. There's plenty to lose.
