This is the thing for me... I thought for sure Bennett would've grabbed the pick of the English halves to come over and lead the team around.
You'd probably get them on the cheaper side compared to aus halves and they're coming into a well established team. Pommy halves should be screaming out to come over here and you can't tell me there is no one over there that is NRL standard.
The brutal reality is that ESL is reserve grade/isc standard. There is probably 10 halves here in NSWISC that would make starting 13 in ESL.
I am holding my vote until the season is over. There are clearly problems, lets see if they are corrected and how. So far the decisions are baffling me, although we aren't privvy to players mentality and training efforts, what they dish up on field is inconsistent and not good enough for a club of this standard and facilities.
The reality must become that irrelevant of "we don't have a half", "half our pack is injured" the buck has to stop somewhere and like any other NRL club things cannot be predicted during the season but must be managed. Chopping and changing, making player promises is not the way to do this. Look at Sam Thaiday - the guy looks like hes been drinking schooners every night for the past 5 years - his fitness and condition isn't up to standard, yet he's allowed freedom? I do not care how well he has served the club, the older you get the more responsibility and example you hold - he should be the strongest and fittest he has ever been. Its a professional sport and success comes from discipline at the very basic level. If that standard is not set, the result is what we have now.
