Wayne Bennett - Sack him or not

Oh Bennett fans, the lot of you are blinded by the excitment to be rid of Griffin.

If Bennett fails to make the 8 with the Knights this season, is that ok because he won some premierships a few years back or is that a failed season?

It's different because the Knights fucking suck and the Broncos fucking rock.

Griffin had to go but I am not sure if Bennett was the right choice. I believe he can and will win us a Premiership in the next 3 seasons. We have a good squad building. Obviously if we fall to pieces when he leaves it will be a huge issue and that will be the problem IMO. He better have a good succession plan.

Surely he's the right choice if we will win a Premiership in the next three seasons.

We should've gone with another rookie coach to be honest, that we he could learn on the job and set us back another 5 years.

hang on a minute, the Knights can't suck, because b4l just got through telling us how good they are because they just knocked off the Roosters. so going by that logic, we must be the ones that suck ... we lost to the Roosters

A rookie coach with WB as the coaching director helping to make sure we are set for years to come, instead we are sitting subjectively pretty for 3yrs or so and we get the set back later.

I wonder how things would be if Griffin stayed on as the coach and WB was coaching director.

Yeah you are probably right but I don't want us to be in a giant hole once he leaves. The whole point of him coming back is for him to have a succession plan in place and for him to win that final premiership.

Like Locky said WB still wants to head coach right now, we needed to get rid of Griffin right now, WB was available right now.

The club has surely learnt from the clusterfuck that has been 2009-2014 and wont let the same thing happen again.

Roosters fucking suck too. The only team who don't fucking suck are the Broncos.

This is exactly the best option for us ... short of getting a Bellamy or Hasler type coach

Just on Bellamy.. he was gonna come up here and would've been our coach for the past 6 years if our pig headed CEO at the time didn't **** it up.

Maybe in a few years he'd be open to that offer again with the big guns retiring at Melbourne and coaching a great crop of talent coming through the Logan Junior Academy?

Griffin and WB working as a team ? In the red corner you'd have a guy four years into his career, starting to believe in himself and his methods .. In the blue corner, a guy with 30 years of methods and philosophies ect that he believes in because the success is there to prove it. I guarantee you, someone isn't coming out of that ring (or in this case, the coaching box) alive ...

No coach worth a pinch of shit would accept a job that involves having another coach looking over their shoulder, especially when the latter still wants to be a coach. When Wayne Bennett is completely finished with coaching, maybe then this 'coaching director' thing that everyone keeps mentioning might have a chance of working. But while ever Bennett still wants to be a first grade coach, that mentor-protege setup is total pie in the sky. it might sound great and look nice when you type it out in a post here, but in the real world it has zero chance of working.

Haha nope that's not what I said. I said they beat the premiers so by charmambas logic that makes them amazing, in response to his comment that you are only as good as your last game

There is positives and negatives to Bennett returning. All the ifs, buts and candy nuts will just destroy us. May as well wait until we see how we go now until we make a judgement on whether it was the right call or not.

Bellamy is, IMO, single-handedly responsible for turning rugby league into the wrestle-filled ruck-dominated bullshit we have today. It's taken the game (and in turn letting Manly winning 40-fucking-nil) the best part of 6-8 years to try and reverse it. The sooner he retires (which he's rumoured to be along with S,S,C), the better.

Also chances are certain dodgy accountants would've come too.
