I'm so over this SHORT SIGHTED Wayne Bennett witch hunt from a vocal minority on social media (reddit/facebook). If you want Wayne Bennett to step aside after his result set since 1991, then chances are I'm probably not interested in any of your other footy opinions as they're probably equally dumb.

It's nice of Wayne to stick by Sam but I don't feel nice is what we need right now, sounds like he's just ignoring the obvious. The Broncos shouldn't be Sammy's retirement home. Even if he dropped him to QLD cup for a few weeks like he did with Hunt just for a wake up call, but Wayne is the man and nearly always comes out on top with his decisions. I hope he hasn't shot himself in the foot with these bold calls so early in the season

Des Hasler, Geoff Toovey, Micheal McGuire all got premierships grand finals and top 4 spots but all got sacked.

They all missed the 8 for at least 1 year prior to being sacked ... none of them were sacked the year after finishing top 4.

Wayne Bennett has assured veteran Brisbane forward Sam Thaiday he will be in his top 17 for the rest of the season in the wake of a column by former Broncos star Chris Walker on the QRL website which called for him to retire immediately.

Walker said the 32-year-old club legend should retire on his own terms and "take a leaf from Corey Parker's book and call it a day sooner, rather than later, to preserve his legacy".

Bennett was told what Walker had written and said: "Chris should have retired a long time before he did as well, so he is speaking from experience."
