Well, that is an interesting question, and one that no media team is asking. There were some bad decisions made for certain. I think it does come from higher, more than likely a similar situation to a lot of modern day organisations (the Australian government included) wherein these "Professionals" come in and fiddle some numbers around to show a profit margin, or make a big marketing scheme and promote certain things, all the while completely ruining a functional organisation all in the name of a profit margin. Then they leave, take a golden handshake and move on to the next sucker they can leech leaving disfunction and a cheesed out subframe. Personally, I think the club reacted too quickly with Hook and I think also Bennett, while a legend, was not the right decision to have back to the club. Boyd was a compassion signing and his contract was signed on faith and was not well researched. I suspect he was "owed" something. Fifita was not wrapped up ages ago because they were betting on his verbal commitment and the mateship this playing group has. The Broncos want to forge a dedicated playing group and believed he would sign for the glory BUT how can anyone argue with $1.25mill.? That is just F.U. money and you don't say no to F.U. money. I think ultimately the Broncos stopped signing passionate young men and started playing this Melbourne Storm, Sydney Roosters game of doubling down on bets. I could give a **** about mercenaries, I want a team of doers, a team that fights and a team that will do everything for their mates. You let in one merc. you spoil that ethic. You pay too much for someone who isn't dedicated, you spoil them. The real problem in this whole mess at the Broncos is..... ISAAC MOSES! Also, the medical staff probably could not cope with the intensity of training these young men to NRL standard all in such a short time. Injuries happen, but 110% preseasons put undue strain on them, I believe.
