You associate Herbie with a club he hasn't even played for yet?

The question I have is, was Fletcher actually any good as a player?

Fletch was great, the Roosters built a lot of their game around his runs down an edge. He'd usually run the ball more than any other player and had an offload in him.

Always think of him more as a Rooster than a Rabbit. I'm curious if this had anything to do with your association, ning?

Firstly, let me just say that is one of my favourite NRL 'theme songs' of all time. Hearing that on the intro to Friday night footy as a young fella, you'd be ready to go all guns blazing, feeling like you were running out on the field with the boys yourself. Good times.

On Fletch, I just recall the huge amount of hype around his signing for the 2003 season. It was such a massive coup for a team that were really struggling after coming back into the competition, and they snared him from arguably their biggest rivals - it was a statement signing.

He sort of became the 'face' of the Rabbitohs there for that early period where they were re-establishing themselves. Granted, they were still a pretty woeful team for most of the time he was there.

Honourable mention to the likes of Nathan Merritt and John Sutton, who I also considered listing.
